    Data Center LEEDS


      In 2008 Intel established a green building policy for new facilities which includes designing them to a minimum LEEDS Silver level, although this became the documented design specification, data center retrofit and new construction designs have been conserving resources since 2003 with the introduction of segregated air designs. We first explored cold aisle enclosures, then quickly moved to hot aisle enclosures as the base design due to  better thermal ride through during a power event. The next big innovation was the naturally aspirated chimney cabinet with above ceiling return plenum.
