Jul 31, 2017 2:33 PM (in response to Mikkis)This message was posted on behalf of Intel CorporationMikkis: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® NUC communities. We are sorry to hear the NUC is not working properly.
You mentioned the latest BIOS version is already installed, just in case here is the link to download it, version 0040:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26899/BIOS-Update-AYAPLCEL-86A-?product=95062
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005850.html
Is this problem recently, did it work fine before?
By any chance, do you have the option to test the NUC with a different VGA cable?
We will try to reproduce this issue in our lab, as soon as I get any updates, I will post all the information on this thread.
Any further questions, please let me know.

Mikkis Aug 1, 2017 8:05 AM (in response to Intel Corporation)Just to be clear, I just purchased the NUC and the problem was there from the start.
The BIOS version is indeed 0040.
I didn't get the chance to try a different VGA cable. However, the previous PC that was connected to the same display with the same cable didn't have these issues.
I tried lowering the display resolution from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 and I'm not experiencing said flickering any more. It would be nice to be able to use the monitor's native resolution, though

Aug 2, 2017 11:43 AM (in response to Mikkis)This message was posted on behalf of Intel CorporationMikkis: Thank you very much for providing that information. I just wanted to let you know that we tried to reproduce this same issue in our lab using the same NUC and the VGA port and there were no flickering problems, the NUC worked just fine. And yes, you should be able to use the native resolution of the monitor.
So, in this case, it could be a defective unit. Remember the Intel warranty is for 3 years and if the problem persists then we recommend to replace the NUC.
If you are interested in that option, please get in contact directly with Intel:

Mikkis Aug 26, 2017 8:10 AM (in response to Mikkis)Hi!
Sorry for the late reply! I didn't replace the NUC yet since other people seem to be having same issues.
Just for fun, I tried running Linux Mint (live USB). The hardware setup was exactly the same (other USB devices, monitor etc.) but I didn't experience the same flickering @1920x1080. However, I only ran the live USB Linux for a very limited amount of time.

Aug 28, 2017 2:43 PM (in response to Mikkis)This message was posted on behalf of Intel CorporationHi Mikkis: No problem at all. Thank you very much for letting us know those results. From our end the next thing to do will be to replace it, based on the fact that it works fine with Linux and when you used the HDMI port. The problem could be related to the VGA port itself.
Any questions, please let me know.

Rafa@intel Sep 18, 2017 2:44 AM (in response to Mikkis)I encountered the same problem. On 2 different NUC6CAYH, same issue with VGA connection. Happens with different VGA cables, different screens, different resolutions.
No issue when using HDMI.

kallek Oct 4, 2017 3:32 PM (in response to Mikkis)Hi.
I am having exactly the same issue with the same NUC model when connected to the VGA monitor at 1280x1024 60Hz. Running the Win 10 Pro and installed the latest BIOS and display drivers from Intel site. NUC has a date of manufacture 02-2017. Have not tried a HDMI connected monitor yet.
I did not want to create a new thread as the issue is exactly the same as described by original poster and sufficiently unique to make me believe that it is having the same cause.
