I have a question about this processor. I find out that this processor does not support for DDR3-1066/1333 memory type.

If i using KingSton HyperX DDR3-1600 on my motherboard to run my desktop, will it cause any effect on  processor or other hardware/OS since I7-2700K does not support for DDR3-1600

All the current intel processors support a max of 1066/1333 mhz  memmory modules.

But A lot of mainboards have a memmory divider wich if u set it up correctly let u runn your memmory on the speed it was made for.

As u can see in the print screen below

There are on my mainboard (asus P8Z77-v Multiple options)

    mushkins.jpg

The current memmory i have is Mushkin Redlines 2133mhz

    memmory speed.jpg

So as u can see in the cpu z print screen the memmory runs @ 1072mhz times ddr (x2) = more or less 2133mhz

So no you should not have any problems at all with your memmory.

Also the difference between 1333mhz memmory or my mushkin 2133mhz memmory is only like few %

(i beleave it was less than 5% preformance gain.)

    thanks for the information, Nessuno.

I just check it on my motherboard and i realize that my motherboard already tune my memory frequency into the suitable range which is 1333Mhz.

Wich mainboard do u have ?

And if it 1600mhz it should be able to runn on that speed.

(Doh it depends on brand and make and model, not all off them support the higher speeds)

I think there should be an xmp option in the bios

Dont know how the gigabyte bios is setup (only use asus my self)

But im pretty sure there should be an intel xtreme memmory profile option.

that should put your memmory on 1600mhz

I would reccomend u to take a look in the manual.

Or take a look in your bios.

    looked up the spec's

    and here ya go

    • 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory
      * Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.
    • Dual channel memory architecture
    • Support for DDR3 1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules
    • Support for non-ECC memory modules
    • Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

So take a look in your bios.
