    DZ68BC & BIOS 0035 Issues

    Major_A

I'm sure this has been beaten to death.  I have several issues and I'm not sure that they have been discussed so I started a new thread.

      Issues:

      1) Several BSODs, most of them are memory issues.  Wasn't a problem before.

      2) Had to disable Virtu.  I was getting graphics that were disappering on web pages along with a huge black bar near the top of pages.

      3) Obviously OCing broken.  Since you can't manually manipulte the non-Turbo multiplier I guess it's called overclocking.  Do us a favor and unlock that option.  A cheap Biostar board can do this, yet my ~$225 board can't?!?!?!?

      4) If I change the option in the BIOS to set all the Turbo Boost ratios to 1 ratio it automatically puts in 59 and I can't change it.  I've hooked up 3 different keyboards and all of them have the same problem.

      5) After the BIOS update I'm seeing the Marvell SATA controller ROMs even though I told the BIOS to disable all (meaning don't show me them in the boot).

      6) Windows Explorer keeps crashing.  I don't know if this a Vurtu issue or not.

Yes, this BIOS 035 causes lots of other problems too than oc problems.

Crashes, BSODs, jammed graphics on the screen. My humble guess is that fixed BIOS will be available next August, considering the pace of previous updates.

My desktop is unusable now, so I use my macbook pro. Great.

If there are so many issues with the BIOS then Intel should remove the download.  Tell users sorry that they can't pick up an Ivy Bridge and work on a BIOS fix.  I don't know who writes the firmware for Intel boards, Intel or Foxconn but whoever it is needs to get this fixed yesterday.

I turned my computer on around 8PM this evening to grab some files off the computer.  Since that time (roughly 3 hours ago) the computer has BSOD'ed about 10 times.  I'm at the point where I can't even use the computer anymore.  FIX THE BIOS ISSUES!

With that said after doing a lot of F2 clicking the BIOS is just flat out screwed up.  It has my Turbo Boost ratio at 59 and it's stuck.  It also somehow decied to tune my RAM from 11-11-11-28 to 8-8-8-20.  I have tried adjusting the performance page (even though I know it won't work).  I have also went as far as disabling Turbo Boost all together.  At this point the computer is finally back into Windows but given it's track record today it will crash 5 more times before I turn the PC off for the night.

                AUGUST?

I hope for intel much more reasonable.

They are loosing many customers every day.

I have now work for almost a week now.

If there will not be any BOS fix soon, I'm considering to buy other board in the next days.

Try doing a Live Chat with Intel Tech support or call them directly and tell them all of the problems you guys are experiencing and how your PC's are now unstable and unusable.  You may need to be a bit forceful with them but they should authorize an RMA for you.  I got an RMA authorization for my DZ68BC on Monday.

For some reason Intel thinks the problem is just that you can no longer do any overclocking but the problems are so much more than just that as all of us can attest to.  Good luck guys!

By the way I already received my replacement board and I can happily say that it does not come with BIOS 0035 installed.  In fact it had BIOS 0021 and I updated it to 0028 and the board is working great so far!

Well I assumed these forums were moderated by Intel support employees.  So much for that.  I'm trying now to get them on chat but they're all busy right now.  I still see the BIOS is available for download.  That's dumb on their part and they should remove the link.  Most people buying Ivy Bridge are probably picking up a Z77 motherboard anyway.

Great, now the whole downolad page for DZ68BC has disappeared...

                          You are lucky.

Have you received a refurbished board, or a brand new?

It came with all accessories included in the retail box?

Have you send them you board first before they sent you

a replacment, or they didn't wait for that?

                            Yeah, I can see that.

                            They killed the whole page:

                            http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%c2%ae+6+Series+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Desktop+Board+DZ68BC

So not more even drivers. Very strange.

It seems thing are going from worse to worser.

Maby this is the product end life, and this is a fancy way to leave?

Yeah, I noticed earlier that they are pulled the entire motherboard page from the downloads section.  Finally they got the right idea and pulled the download to prevent further returns.  I have to wait on a PnP socket saver to send the board back.  Luckily I have two sitting here I have to wait a week before I can pull one to send the DZ68BC back.  After chatting with Michael from Intel he told me they are quickly working on an updated BIOS to fix the issues.  So I'm hoping the fix comes out before I send the board back.  I don't really feel like tearing down my computer a losing it outright for a week or two.  Hate to say it but I knew I should've picked up an ASUS or Gigabyte board.  Lessen learned.

Oh, and one other thing.  I ran across this article yesterday and it might explain some of the problems with the current BIOS.

I just bought, about 3 weeks the DZ68BC  and right now I checked the version:

The version of my mobo Intel is G30742-401 ,  So...I not build the computer yet.

                                What should I do?

exchange the motherboard or update the bios for the version #28 ??

I am so worried and scared here after read so many issues about this mobo.

Please, I am not expert about this and I always used intel products and never had problem before. What should I do?

                                Thank you in advance,

You can go ahead and install the board.  Just don't apply the 0035 BIOS.  The previous BIOS (0028) worked fine for me.  The only caveat is this board can't overclock the processer the right way.  You have to rely on Turbo Boost speeds to overclock the processor.  If I would've known this then I would've completely skipped the board in the 1st place.  If you aren't running a K series processor and/or overclocking isn't something you're interested in the the board is fine.  Hope that helps.  Any more questions feel free to ask.

                                    Thank you Major_A

I am not a overclocker man.  I never did it and I'll never do.

I like very stable machines with no overclock.

                                    I bought the intel i7 2600K, But I won't overclock it.

And about the memories I also have questions I created a topic here about this.

So, talking about this mobo, all I need to this modo works stable is update the BIOS for the # ( 0028) ? That´s all I need?

Do you know the version I have I my mobo?

                                    I have some INFO:
