Hi - The Tech Spec for your board can be found here. http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19485/eng/DH67GD_DH67BL_TechProdSpec03.pdf The minimum recommended ppower supply is 460W - do you meet this requirement? Also, ensure your memory meets the specifications found here http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dh67gd/sb/CS-031960.htm?wapkw=dh67gd+memory . Is your memory on the G.Skill recommended list for your board? Does your board produce any tones when it fails to boot? Regards. Peter
The power suply has 540W so at least when starting the pc with only onboard graphics it shouldn't be a problem.
the ram supports the chipset, but the board isn't on the Qualified motherobards list, might that be the root of the problem?
from what i see the ram meets the specification from your second link.
no tones produced on start. just fans starting and you can hear the hdd running.
I agree that your power supply is sufficient for startup with just onboard graphics but might be borderline for use when running with your HD6970. The memory from G.Skill seems to meet the Intel requirements but, if you can get memory similar to the Intel-tested to see if it works I would recommend you try to do that. That was a very short list of tested memory! Try one stick in the slot specified in the Tech Spec and if that works add a stick in the appropriate slot. When you say you have updated the board to the latest BIOS I hope that is 0151. I am surprised that you do not hear any beeps that would indicate a memory problem when the board fails to start. The code for the beeps is in your Tech Spec. If you have a spare power supply you may want to try it. Good luck.
For your information I have two systems based on DH67GD and both have 16GB of memory, running fine with:
- 2 kits of 2x4GB Gskill Ripjaws X PC10600 for one system
- 2 Kits of 2x4GB Kingston KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX for the second system, (running at 1.5V and 1333MHz by jedec SPD).
The PWS is 500W earthwatt from Antec for one system, and 330W Seasonic S12 II for the second one.
The bios is 0128 for one system, and 0132 for the second one.
No graphics card. The systems are drawing about 40W idle (windows 7 x64) at mains and something like 120W at ful load (prime95).
okay, so i tried it now with a 600w power supply, so plenty of power, still nothing changed.
tried every possible combination of slots:
with only 1 bar
works on slot 1 and 3 not on slot 2 and/or4
with 2 bars:
works only if the bars are in slot 1 and 3, every other combo 1&2, 1&4, 3&2,3&4, 2&4.
tried playing with the bios settings, changing RAM MHz and Command mode, but nothing changed.
So i contacted amazon and they take it back, i'm going to buy another Motherboard, probably not an intel.
Thanks alot for your help and your time Peter!
