    Intel® Desktop Board D525MW won't boot

    gregoamps

      I have purchased the following:

      • Intel® Desktop Board D525MW
      • 2 x Corsair 2GB DDR3 1066MHz/PC3-8500 Laptop Memory SODIMM
      • Mini ITX Case with 300W PSU

I've installed it all together along with a SATA DVD Drive and a SATA HDD.

When i plug the power in and turn the PSU on the Standby light on the motherboard lights. the fans on the case do not operate, the fan in the psu does not operate, the power indicatorr lights on the box do not light.I have checked and double checked all connections however cannot see where i am going wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Although you may have turned on the PSU, you need to press the power button on the case to start the PC as well - the green light on the motherboard only means standby power is applied to the board but the board won't boot unless the power button is also pressed. You can find the Intel no boot troubleshooting wizard here and the support home page for your D525MW motherboard here (where you can check to see if your memory is compatible - otherwise Corsairs website should help).

              Hi all,

Did you have any luck fixing this issue?
I have recently purchased the same setup and am experiencing the same issues.

What stage did you get up to with the no-boot wizard (it really is a helpfull tool)?

I keep getting back to the point where it states to update the bios. Only I can't because it doesn't boot far enough.

I've also tried 3 different brands of 2 x 2gb memory chips without luck. If I boot the board without memory I get the normal 3 beep pause error from the on board sound. With any memory in (even 1 chip) it boots, stays on for 3 seconds and then powers off. No BIOS post to update the bios.

Because I can't flash the bios the wizard then goes to 'Clear the CMOS' which I have done, I've just gotten to 'Does it boot out of the chassis', which I am about to test.

Ok. I think I'm at the point of getting a new motherboard.

I've now completed the torubleshooting no boot wizard to no avail.

I've tested all new memory as recommended on the Intel and Kingston site.

I've tested the board out of the chassis with no success.

Thinking it was a power supply issue, I've tested using a completely seperate and working power supply.

Still the same effect. The power supply comes on, but turns off within about 3 seconds.

Any more help would be appreciated!

It'd be worth having a careful read of the Product Guide and then Technical Specs for your board (both from Intels website here): http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/category/dsktpboards/db-d525mw/doc_guide but if none of the docs throw any light on your issue, It'd be worth calling Intel Tech Support for help. Sorry but I'm not very familiar with this board and it seems like you've tried all the logical steps I would have tried.

One other question - what OS are you attempting to load?

                        Chris

Sorry to but in but I'm having some trouble with the D525MW board.

I have tried the board with everything connected the fans start hdd turns on but I get nothing on my monitor.

I've tried it out of the case with nothing connected and still get nothing. I've tried the PSU from my main computer and it all turns on fine but again nothing on the monitor. I read in the product guide about beep codes and I have attached a speaker but I hear none with or without anything connected.

If you haven't figured it out this is all new to me and any help would be greatly appreciated.

                        Chris

What's your history with this board and PCs generally Chris (eg its a brand new board that you're attempting to install in a new PC or one you obtained second hand etc)? Have you double checked all your connections going by the motherboard manual and what is actually on the HDD that you've connected to this board (if anything)? How is the monitor connected?

Have you had a look at the the Intel no-boot wizard yet Desktop Boards Troubleshooting system no boot issues
