Intel Rapid Storage F6 Driver Not found in instillation

Hello,

I am trying to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver via the F6 method.  I am installing vista home premium x64.  I selected 'load driver' in the instillation section where the drive is selected for the instillation.  It then prompted me to insert in removable media that contained the appropriate drivers.  It automatically scanned and found no drivers.  I then manually browsed the folders and selected the usb that contained these files:
    iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat,
    iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,
    iaStor.sys, and
    TxtSetup.oem.

in the root directory.

It gave the same message

No device drivers were found.  Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.

I downloaded the drivers from this link:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20625&ProdId=2101&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20Vista%2064*&DownloadType=

The x64 driver to be specific.  Also, my computer has 64 bit architecture.

What type of USB device are you using to load the F6 drivers?

From my research to install Win XP Pro x64 on a new mobo with only SATA, I've read that only certain USB floppy drives will work.

Not sure if Vista has the same limitations, but it could be that the USB device you are using is not compatible for F6 driver install.

Also, check you BIOS settings to ensure your system can see a USB device for os install.

    Regards

The OS itself is being installed from a DVD.  The F6 drivers and only the F6 drivers are being installed from a usb device.  It is recognizing the usb drive is there.  It just isn't seeing the drivers on it.  I will try another usb drive and see what happens.

I know it's recognizing the usb, but not seeing the files.

When I built a new system with SATA only Intel board and Win XP Pro x64 three years ago, I was confronted with the F6 requirement. Of course I didn't know anything about it until I tried to load the os. The Intel board didn't have a floppy interface. I was stumped at first. After doing a lot of Internet reading, I discovered that the drivers had to be loaded by a floppy and not just any floppy. There were only a few USB floppy drives that would work. I ordered one of those floppy drives and was able to install the os. I didn't get to all the details as to why only a certain USB floppy drives would work, but I just followed the online info and my issue was resolved.

I don't know that what I just described is the same issue you are having, but it may be related. There have been a lot of BIOS upgrades over the past three years and the technical limitations may not be the same today as they were three years ago. If you can get access to a DYNEX DX-EF101 USB Floppy, you may be able to resolve your issue.

    Hi,

I do have the exactly the same problem except that it actually finds a driver after manually selecting the folder with the mentioned files.

"Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller (C:\iaStor.inf)"

When I select Next on that page I get more or less the same error message (translated from german):

No device drivers were found.  Make sure that the installation media contains the correct driver files.

I am trying to install WHS 2011 (Server 2008) on a RAID 5 configuration.

I am using an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Motherboard and the same drivers.

The driver is on an USB stick with all the files in the root directory.

... Fixed: This has been an issue with installing from an USB 3.0 stick. It was probably the driver for USB 3.0 missing. Installing from USB 2.0 port worked

From what I can see Intel have removed support for ICH9R in the latest packages?

Do you know what he device id of your controller is? Look it up in the inf file and see if it exists.

Mines  PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2922&CC_0106 and this has been removed from the inf files for some reason
