3. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
swotime Mar 23, 2012 8:55 AM (in response to WPDownUnder)Intel... Hello? A bunch of us are having this same issue with the Intel 310 series SSD mSATA. Please respond...

WPDownUnder Apr 2, 2012 2:59 AM (in response to swotime)Still no comments?
What's the refund policy based on the drive not working, when cheaper, slower mSata devices like the stock MSI Windpad Win7 Sandisk 32GB SSD does work with Win8?
:/

WPDownUnder Apr 3, 2012 8:13 PM (in response to WPDownUnder)Here is the spec sheet for the Sandisk stock MSi Windpad SSD that does work with Win8 no issues:
Model: SDSA4DH-032G

6. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
WPDownUnder Apr 3, 2012 9:02 PM (in response to WPDownUnder)Intel Australia(?) have now raised a trouble ticket on this matter - after I called them today. A very helpful technical customer service person has advised they will report back to me on this ticket and their findings.
I will naturally update here when they do

7. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
swotime Apr 5, 2012 9:31 PM (in response to WPDownUnder)I, too, went back to the stock drive and it worked flawlessly. The lack of response from Intel will solidify my commitment to never purchase another intel drive again... once bitten, twice shy. Thanks for the post, Sheeds.

8. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
WPDownUnder Apr 5, 2012 9:38 PM (in response to swotime)Cheers swotime.
I received this reply from them a short time ago:
"We did a simulation in our laboratory using Windows 8 consumer build and a solid state drive on an Intel based system. Was able to successfully installed the operating system and Windows update without encountering the said issue. Since Windows 8 is not yet officially release, we are not able to investigate further, perhaps we can wait for the official release to further investigate in case the issue persist. Hope the above information clarify. Again, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention."
I have asked;
A. Did they test the mSATA 310 series drive (not a regular SATA drive)?
B. Have they tried it on an ARM CPU based tablet system - NOT an intel system as they reported above?
Not sure their simulation was ever going to give us answers if NO to either of the above!
Cheers.

9. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
WPDownUnder Apr 5, 2012 11:06 PM (in response to WPDownUnder)Apparently their simulation was tried on a different series SSD (510) and on an intel based CPU/Desktop system.
How that was ever going to reflect our issues - I do not know!
Waiting to hear back.

10. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
WPDownUnder Apr 7, 2012 4:54 AM (in response to WPDownUnder)Here we go. Intel's latest technical support reply:
"Our testing shows the compatibility you've mentioned is not with Intel SSD and Win8 but also including AMD-based chipset, this would need to be further investigated upon official release of Windows 8."
So it's the combo of Windows 8 and the AMD chipset/CPU which is causing incompatibilities with the Intel 310 series mSATA SSD! Damn.

11. Re: Intel 310 series SSD mSATA driver conflicts Windows 8 Consumer Build
swotime Apr 6, 2012 12:10 PM (in response to WPDownUnder)Thanks, Sheeds. At least that shed some light. I'll likely use the stock drive for the time being and I'm sure by the time they get around to fixing the issue, mSATA drives will be dirt cheap and I'll be getting a bigger drive that's NOT Intel :-).

WPDownUnder Apr 6, 2012 4:51 PM (in response to swotime)Well here's a quick summary from the MSi Windpad thread over at the tablet forums that a user made:
Sandisk SSD + AMD chipset + Win 7 = Everything OK
MydigitalSSD + AMD chipset + win 7 = Everything OK
Intel 310 SSD msata + AMD chipset + Win 7 = Everything OK
Intel 310 SSD msata + Intel chipset + Win 7 = Everything OKSandisk SSD + AMD chipset + Win 8 = Everything OK
MydigitalSSD + AMD chipset + win 8 = Everything OK
Intel 310 SSD msata + Intel chipset + Win 8 = Everything OK
Intel 310 SSD msata + AMD chipset + Win 8 = NOT OK -

WPDownUnder Apr 7, 2012 4:59 AM (in response to WPDownUnder)I followed up tech support from Australia, logged a help ticket and discovered the answer this way. With over 1K views of this post over 3 weeks - there was NOT a SINGLE reply from intel staff here.

WPDownUnder Apr 9, 2012 4:44 AM (in response to WPDownUnder)Now intel are saying they won't support a refund.....
