DX79TO PCI Express 3 backward compatible using IBM 6 Gb SAS Host Bus Adapter 46M0907

I recently sold a customer a system based on the INTEL DC79TO board and an I7 procesor.

This board according to the spec has

EXPANSION CAPABILITIES

•Two PCI Express*x16 connectors

•Two PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots

•One PCI Express x4 slot

•One PCI slots

I am trying to use this card http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/tips0776.html  which needs a PCI Express x8 2.0 interface. When I plug it in the system does not boot at all - not even into BIOS.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

    Hello fshrago,

I see that you are inquiring about the compatibility with a SAS controller card.

In regards to your inquire, this motherboard is not designed to be used with these type of cards and they may not work.

The only option that you may change in BIOS to help you with the usage of these type of cards will be the expansion car text. If the problem is that the motherboard freezes during post because it is not recognizing the card, this option may help you.

Unfortunately if this does not work, you should test with a different one from a different manufacturer. Also, make sure that the latest BIOS and a sufficient power supply are required.

    Regards.

    PV
