Hi - I would recommend you review the memory section of the technical spec for your board which can be found here. http://downloadmirror.intel.com/15056/eng/DG965RY_TechProdSpec.pdf The spec says your board should support 8GB of DDR2 667mhz memory. It also recommends using memory with SPD and what happens when you use different memory configurations which is what happened when you added the 2GB memory. Regards. Peter
I am not clear about the line "It also recommends using memory with SPD and what happens when you use different memory configurations which is what happened when you added the 2GB memory"
Did you mean speed of each memory chip? if that be the case it is working perfect with 3GB memory.
What is the solution for this?
Hi - I should have been clearer. Re SPD - Read the note in paragraph 1.4 of the linked specification for a better description than I can give.
I am referring to the capacity not the speed. You have installed both 1GB and 2GB sticks and according to paragraph 1.4.1 when you have different capacities you do not have the most optimum configuration. I would try a matched pair of 1GB memory sticks along with the pair you originally had for a total of 4GB or depending on your budget you may want to buy a pair of 2GB sticks. I would ensure they are 1.8v and meet the SPD requirement of your spec. Your spec has diagrams of how to slot memory of unequal capacity.
Since the only change you have made to the configuration is the addition of the 2GB memory, I have to assume that has caused the usage to go to 100%. Good Luck. Peter
