    Hello,

Please, make sure your computer has the Minimal System Requirements, from here: http://www.intel.com/support/performancetools/sb/CS-031695.htm

If your system indeed meets all the requirements please run the Intel® System Identification Utility.  You can get it from here: http://www.intel.com/support/idyp.htm

It will provide you an ID number, please write it down and let us know the ID number and I will look it up in our data base.

    Regards,

thought i'd share a caution re: install appup.  I installed appup on win xp machine.  it installed ok (i think!). i then took advantage of the free angry birds game download for pc.  i've been working for hours to get it to work.  it keeps giving an error message about opengl versions.  that's led to all sorts of added stuff and it still doesn't work.  it downloads c++, then updates for c++, then some opengl review program, then direct x and its updates. it seems like an awful lot of extra effort to use this stuff.  after all this, i'm not sure so far that there is anything out there i'd want from appup. my machine seemed to be working fine with all i used until trying to use this stuff.

a feedback mechanism would be very helpful, so people can tell if something is worth taking the time to download and trial.

also, appup itself is popping up a lot of " sorry, there was an error" type messages.  it almost looks like this isn't really ready for prime time.  be cautious installing and set aside some time to get thru it all.

    Hello,

I’d like to inform to you that OpenGL* is an API (Application Programming Interface) for 3D graphics that is used by many games. OpenGL* enables hardware acceleration of 3D graphics, so support is required from the graphics drivers for optimum performance.

Please note that OpenGL® version 1.3 is required to run Angry Birds Rio* game.

I’d like to suggest to you to verify if your video card’s drivers are up to date and support OpenGL® 1.3.

First, update your video driver. Check with your computer/graphics card manufacture for the latest driver.  Please take in consideration that drivers that come with Microsoft® Windows® or that are downloaded from Windows* Update typically do not support OpenGL®.

Also, please confirm your graphic card driver supports OpenGL® 1.3. Realtechvr GLview* is a non-Intel® application that can help you confirm if OpenGL® is supported on your system. You can download the tool form here: http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html **

If the issue remains after performing the above steps, please send us an email including the contact email address associated to your account.

To send us an email from Intel AppUp(SM) center, you can select the Help menu and then select Contact Support. From the Intel AppUp(SM) center community you can select the "Send An Email" link from the Actions menu in the upper right.

thanks for taking the time to respond.  i have uninstalled both the game and the appup facility.

The appup isnt stable enough (too many error messages right now) and the game isnt worth all the trouble and effort to get it running.

The other available programs seemed very trivial and limited so, again, felt it was too early to use this type of facility. perhaps it will mature.

I'm sure i still have garbage i wasn't able to install from pieces of direct x, c++, etc. that were installed trying to get it to work.  Installation even triggered a number of windows "updates", one of which was an nvidia driver update i thought would be needed.  it ended up cratering my display!  that was fun trying to correct~~~

Way too cumbersome and way too much negative impact to my computer.

thanks again though for your information.  it would be helpful if some of those requirements were presented initially so we could avoid the hassle or be better prepared to run the downloaded programs.
