1. Re: Configure desktop resolution higher than display resolution GMA 3150 D525MW
Salem_Intel Sep 22, 2011 4:02 PM (in response to bongo)Hi,
The graphics controller drivers will support just about any video modes as long as the monitor’s EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) supports it. I'm just concerned you are using a 1024x756 display monitor in respect to the resolution you are trying to accomplish.

bongo Sep 22, 2011 11:12 PM (in response to Salem_Intel)hi
maybe you misunderstand me.
i don't want to show a 1600x1200 resolution on a 1024x756 monitor!
i want to run the display adapter in a way that allows to have a 1600x1200 desktop, which i can see in it's full size using tightvnc.
but as there's only a 1024x756 monitor attached (unfortunately, there's no room there to have a bigger monitor), this locally attached monitor shall only show a section of the desktop.
i know this was possible some time ago (i had this on several notebooks, was probably with win95) but i don't know how to configure.
can this be done using a special display driver or is there any add-on software that allows to do so?
thanx for your help!

Salem_Intel Sep 23, 2011 10:25 AM (in response to bongo)Thanks for the extra details!
I confirm for the specific configuration you refer to, you may want to check with the developer of TightVNC. From the part of Intel, the video driver, per se, does not allow such configuration.

4. Re: Configure desktop resolution higher than display resolution GMA 3150 D525MW
Flying_Kiwi Sep 23, 2011 9:00 PM (in response to bongo)What you are wanting is the ability to 'pan' your desktop and although the Intel driver doesn't have this ability built in (unlike an old Matrox card I used to own), there are third party products out there that attempt to perform this function. Whether they work reliably with your hardware to give you what you want is something you'd need to try out for yourself. If you search for desktop panning software, that should set you in the right direction (as well as contacting your software publisher as already suggested by Salem_Intel).

bongo Sep 24, 2011 1:47 PM (in response to bongo)got it!
by simply unchecking the ' hide modes that this monitor cannot display' a higher desktop size can be selected enforcing the display to pan.
so simple, without any addon software!

Flying_Kiwi Sep 25, 2011 10:52 PM (in response to bongo)Be aware that (as already inferred) running a TFT monitor in other than its native (recommended) resolution can (possibly) cause the monitor to fail prematurely so I'd suggest you use this approach with caution.

7. Re: Configure desktop resolution higher than display resolution GMA 3150 D525MW
bongo Sep 25, 2011 11:00 PM (in response to Flying_Kiwi)with this setting, surprisingly the monitor is still running at it's native resolution, just being a window into the much bigger desktop area.
