Reid has provided the Soluiton and it worked for me as well but there are certain missing links and I would like to elaborate and fix the sequence for certain rituals to help non-techies like me. Thanks Reid.

Download the ICS_S64.exe from Intel's website.  It is simple to find.  Search google for Intel ICS_S64.exe download. You will see a link for downloadcenter.intel.com.  Save the ICS_S64.exe to your desktop.

    Then go here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Wireless+Technologies&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Wireless+Display

This is the Intel Wireless Display Software for Windows 7.  Pick the appropriate 32 bit or 64 bit version.  Save the exe to your desktop.

Go to device manager and uninstall/remove/delete

1). Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN under Network Adapters. (Your Wifi card could be different number)

2). Intel Centrino Wi Max adapters (Not relevant for certain Models)

In device Manager under Network Adapters uninstall your Intel Wifi Adapter but be sure to check the box to delete/remove software when it gives the confirmation warning for uninstalling. This is important, if you do not remove the software by checking the box it will not work.

Go to control Panel and then Program and Features and check if Intel Wifi Software is still there or not. If you see this software here, perform uninstall here as well.

Now in Control Panel and then Program and Features select Intel WiDi software and uninstall.

    Reboot.

Back to device manager and check the status of Intel WiFi Adapter under Network Adapters. You might see the Intel WiFi Adapter again and in such case delete / uninstall once more. Caution:.... when you do this, you have killed wireless internet access until you finish the procedure.  Setup a restore point and have another way to get online IF REQUIRED ONLY.

Execute the ics_S64 from the desktop. Choose custom installation when it gives option to choose between Custom and Typical Installation. Ensure you install all features including Intel My WiFi technology.

Reboot   and your wireless internet should be back. Execute the Intel wireless display software that you saved to your desktop.

Reboot for the last time and you should be back in business.

i have the exact same problem w/ the above.. i bought this laptop 2 days ago it's a dm4-1265dx  it all worked well until  yesterday it started to drop my network and keeps giving me notifications that my WiFi Utility  is disabled. Then i tried enabling it but the texts are gray means not clickable and so i decided to restart my computer then shutdown takes forever like more than 15mins i guess or idk i didn't wait coz its very unusual for a new laptop to shutdown that long., so i shut it down by holding the power button for 5 sec then when windows started all work well and my network is doing fine i can connect to the net but after 15mins or so i got disconnected again and it says that my wifi is disabled again i tried  troubleshooting it using the network diagnostic  then it says windows can't detect problem it's either i restore system settings or contact hp online. i tried restore system but it gave me an error msg saying that it can't be done. so i guess i'm trying to find a solution for this matter. oh btw i'm trying samantha's tip but it's not finish yet i hope it works or else i'll shove this laptop  back to best buy coz  i'm  extremely disappointed in hp.

    Hi Shuk,

    Try doing this:

    1) Open the Intel My Wi-Fi Technology program (either through the icon [an earth--with a small x in a circle if it's disconnected] on the lower right of the taskbar or through the Start Menu=>All Programs=>Intel ProSet Wireless Folder=>Intel My Wi-Fi Technology)

    2) Once the program has opened, click on the OPTIONS link (in the upper right hand corner)

    3) Go to the Power tab (last tab on the right) and make sure the right radio button is selected for your particular operating environment...if you're unsure, just click "Any Power Source" just to be safe!

    4) On this same tab, make sure "Automatic Disabling" ISN'T set to 15 minutes (since that's when yours seems to shut off ;-) or just set it to "Never"

If this doesn't fix it, you need to reply with MORE INFORMATION...Like, what type of ROUTER you're using, who is your ISP, and what's included in the REPORT GENERATED BY THE NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS TOOL.

    Okay, hope this helps!

    Cheerio,

I tried Katherine'ssuggestion but the options link is greyed out too so this doesn't help or work.

Has anyone ever managed to enable the adapter to get pushTV?? It shouldn't be this difficult to enable.

I am even more upset than you.  I spent 16 hours with HP's lame support only to finally call their corporate offce and raise a stink.  That got my computer to HP repair.  I took 9 days for it to return but it was working.  It worked for a few weeks and then "tada" same old no enabling.  I don't know if it's intel or HP but this makes them both look stupid.  They should be sending an update to everyone who has this my wifi system that fixes it permanently.

thanks it worked like a charm

Samantha, it worked for me too.  I have a hunch I'll have to do this every-so-often.  Merci bien.

it is not hp fualt, intel provides the drivers and softwar for your comp and to netgear.

it seems the software and drivers are buggy and unstable. any little change to your comp

such as microsoft crticle updates,  it crashes the widi software.  my problem is why is it so complicated to

get the software up and running properly. it is a real pain.
