Could you keep us posted about your testing?
Have any drives failed thusfar?

sogersortep Aug 30, 2011 9:06 AM (in response to Desiderius)Only problem is that they usually fail when we least expect it regardless how many times we test them.
Before my 8M problem I stress tested 6 x 320 series x 160G and all seemed to to be doing wonderfully...until freeze ups came along with the dreaded 8m issue which happens even as I type this post.

easydone Aug 30, 2011 9:16 AM (in response to sogersortep)At least one can say there is a difference after the firmware update.
Before the update 20% failed the test desiderius is performing, after the update 0% failed (until now).
Did you have the 8MB error after you updated to the latest firmware?

Desiderius Sep 1, 2011 2:10 AM (in response to Desiderius)Also the last 16 SSDs pass the tests without problems. Now we send them to our customer and hope they will also survive in productive competition.
Greetings

52. Re: Firmware update now available - Addresses Bad Context 13x Error
Goose Sep 1, 2011 11:31 AM (in response to afrosty)How important is it to disconnect & reconnect SSD after the firmware update?
OCZ technician's posts in their forum indicate that Sandforce drives must be disconnected for full 30 seconds after firmware update in order to let the system see the new acpi table. Yeah, I know OCZ's SSDs have very little to do with intel's, but I wonder if intel's controllers have similar requirement, so the firmware update didn't 'take' for some users who rebooted immediately after the update?

Watercool Sep 1, 2011 11:36 AM (in response to Goose)Exactly my thoughts!
Maybe it was my "fault", I was waiting only for a few seconds and rebooted then... On my first bsod -> 8mb. I did 15-20 hard shutdowns now, trying to reproduce the 8MB error with no "luck".
Maybe Intel can clarify this, how important it is to wait longer or even plug on/off the ssd after flashing the firmware.

54. Under specific conditions?
Taed Sep 1, 2011 3:29 PM (in response to afrosty)I'd like to see clarification or specifics on the phrase "caused by an unexpected power loss under specific conditions". What "specific conditions" are necessary?

mauromol Sep 2, 2011 8:52 AM (in response to afrosty)I just saw revision 1.92 of the Firmware Update Tools has been released yesterday:
http://www.intel.com/go/ssdfirmware
It seems it addresses problems in updating the SSD firmware on Apple and Lenovo systems, while not providing any new change in the firmware.

58. Re: Firmware update now available - Addresses Bad Context 13x Error
Goose Sep 2, 2011 9:16 PM (in response to afrosty)I must say, I'm a bit envious of the amount of open dialogue between users and engineers they have going on at OCZ forums. Not enough to jump ship and risk BSOD with sandforce controllers, mind you.

easydone Sep 3, 2011 3:44 AM (in response to blind71)@blind71@MegaHow did the blue screen happen;
- after a reboot
- after a sudden shutdown
- after doing something specific
- just out of the blue
