why is my i7 2600k slow?

Hi

 

i need help here like seriously I’m going mad and i don't know what do to do. recently i bought a i7 2600k and DP67DE motherboard everything was perfect till my hard drive decided to crash on me twice, After that i manage to get a new one so i reinstalled windows but then my power supply blew on me lucky it’s still work but i noticed my cpu wasn't running as it used to be my game don't run smoothly as well as my software and wins rated my processor speed 5.9 it felt like i just downgraded back to a Pentium dual, Please i need answers i tried updates, formatting and forums and still nothing is there a possible when my power supply blew that my cpu got damaged too or is there a driver that’s needed? 

 

And if so what i should do...

    Try Going into BIOS and set everything to default , run the machine again if that makes no change you may have overvolted the CPU , If thats the case I am suprized it works at all.

    it still does the same thing how do i tell its overvolted i haven't received any error message and if it is can i take it back for a new one??

    Download and run CPUz and see what info it gives you about volts being used and operating Frq.

    If you go for a RMA do not mention the PSU.

    I would also sugest getting a good PSU Like a SeaSonic 850 gold cert. Prob. $ 150.00 to $180.00 depending on where you go , these second gen CPUs are Very dependant on accurate Volts especially  when it come to turbo boost.

    why is my i7 2600k slow?

     

    So I have testing several computers now, with i7 2600k (3.4GHz)

     

    In order to make a true comparison, both CPUs must be used in identical PCs, otherwise differences in the case and it's cooling ability, different hardware, and the programs used will cause the CPUs to be in different environments.

     

    Otherwise if you simply changed CPUs in the same PC, there is a reason for the temperature differences between the i7-2600k and the i5-2500k.  Although both of these CPUs are 95W TDP devices, and their standard clock and Turbo speeds are very close, the main difference between them is the i5-2500k does not have Hyper Threading. The i5-2500k is a 4C / 4T (4 Core / 4 Thread) CPU, while the i7-2600k is a 4C / 8T CPU.  Having two threads running on a core is more work and stress put on the core, and it becomes warmer.  If Hyper Threading is disabled (in the BIOS) on a CPU that has this feature, the CPU temperature will go down up to 10C under high usage/stress situations.  Enthusiasts that over clock their CPUs will sometimes disable Hyper Threading in order to lower the CPU temperature that has increased due to their high over clock.

     

    You can try this yourself if your BIOS allows you to disable Hyper Threading on your i7-2600k.  The effect of doing that will be more noticeable during high CPU load situations, rather than at idle.  So it is not a simple, straightforward situation that the i5-2500k has a lower default operating temperature than the i7-2600k.  The Hyper Threading feature of the i7-2600k makes a significant difference.

    well it doesn't say much but i just bought a 600w psu and its still giving problems. could it be my bios settings i doubt its my anti-virus cause before my psu blew my it didnt have any problems with my aniti virus.

    Well I have the same sort of problem, my turbo won't kick in when needed.

    It clockes 3.4 and not faster when needed. even with a stresstest.

     

    Also i found out that Corsair SSD's are not that compatible with this board.

    3 Overview of BIOS Features

    3.1 Introduction

    The board uses an Intel BIOS that is stored in the Serial Peripheral Interface Flash

    Memory (SPI Flash) and can be updated using a disk-based program. The SPI Flash

    contains the BIOS Setup program, POST, the PCI auto-configuration utility, LAN

    EEPROM information, and Plug and Play support.

    The BIOS displays a message during POST identifying the type of BIOS and a revision

    code. The initial production BIOSs are identified as BAP6710H.86A.

    When the BIOS Setup configuration jumper is set to configure mode and the computer

    is powered-up, the BIOS compares the CPU version and the microcode version in the

    BIOS and reports if the two match.

    The BIOS Setup program can be used to view and change the BIOS settings for the

    computer. The BIOS Setup program is accessed by pressing the <F2> key after the

    Power-On Self-Test (POST) memory test begins and before the operating system boot

    begins. The menu bar is shown below.

    Check the BIOS is very important.

    I submitted the technical data of the Intel motherboard in PDF format
    together with the Web site for the checking process, you must read Intel's instructions. In fact the slow working of the processor is not a big problem to remove it since it can not see a problem, I will be with you until it is fixed.

    MAJOR must be followed Intel's specifications in them have all the solutions.
    That's why Intel provides the specifications, -.- therefore they can remove the temporary disruption caused to the consumer.

    The most important thing in all this that if you do not have the experience and knowledge give the technician to correct the error.

    CASE # 01

    All settings in BIOS that save power, change cpu speed are disabled, including turbo boost. I can boot into windows with a multiplier of 47, but it is only running at 4.1 according to multiple programs. Im wondering why I cant boot into windows at a higher clock speed, and why my processor won't boot past 4.7GHz. Iv booted at that using 1.22vcore to 1.38vcore, and when I bump up to from X47 to X48 in BIOS, my system crashes during the boot. the temps stay extremely low even with high voltages.

    Would a new BIOS update fix this or is that just the max overclock for my CPU. I dont have the batch number written but it was bought at the day of release.

    Don't use F7. That bios doesn't have PLL Override if I recall correctly. Try either the latest f7 beta, or try f8f beta or something. Use PLL override to boot at higher multipliers.

    Something's wrong with your setup. Make sure you go to cpu options and set "Core control by OS" to disabled, that will gray out the "per core" options, and use a fixed multiplier. Then disable C1, C3, C6, and the other power saving options, and you shouldn't be showing up as x41.

    Set LLC1 enabled.

    There's definitely something wrong when you say you can boot up at x47 STABLE with 1.2, but you need 1.25v for x41? Clearly something's wrong with that.

    It is true that Corsair SSD currently has problems with Some Board because they are not compatible with SSD.

    I believe that this will be resolved shortly.

    For some board processor i7 2600k can not be overclocked to 3.4 Hz, because does not support Corsair SSD or can not withstand extreme working Intel i7 processors 2600k.
