DQ67SW: Adaptec RAID 6805 hangs on post screen

I newly installed Adaptec RAID 6805 controller into motherboard Intel DQ67SW (slot PCIe x16). Unfortunately RAID controller hangs during its post screen. I even cannot get in to RAID BIOS. Then I turned off all devices in motherboard BIOS (FireWire, LAN, Serial port, Audio and so on) but that doesn't help at all. Motherboard has the latest BIOS version (0053) as well as RAID controller have the latest version 5.2.0 Build 18301.

So I moved the RAID controller into other computer with much older motherboard (different brand) and the RAID controller worked just fine. But that doesn't solve my problem.

What do I have to do?

Recieving the same problem but using a HighPoint RAID 3530 card, have tried contacting Intel but they wern't able to provide assistance, the card works fine in my old motherboard (Core 2 Duo Systems) but not this motherboard.

While it may not necessarily work for this partricular board, I've seen situations where turning off the on-board RAID function and the Intel AMT technology has helped. Might be worth giving this is a shot.

Thank you Neil, I tried completely disable SATA controller on the mainboard, then I tried to switch its mode to IDE/AHCI/RAID as well as turning off Intel AMT, unfortunately nothing helped.

Unfortunately I just received this e-mail from Intel:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please be aware that Intel® strive to make as many third party
components compatible as possible, but do to the sheer quantity of these
third party components we cannot always guarantee compatibility.
Unfortunately in this instance this would appear to be the case.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    So sad...

    Eduard,

That statement from intel might sound a bit short and sorry to you, but it's a reality in this industry. It's not possible to test everything against everything so there will always be situaitons that are just going to come along and bite the consumer.

However ... there are standards that are supposed to stop these things happening.

Hope Intel brings out a new mboard firmware to resolve this issue with raid cards soon.

I also have this problem now, 2 years after this thread was created.

Just wanted to replace my working Adaptec 5405 with 6805 and the 6805 hangs during startup as shown in the first posting before, DQ67SW has newest Bios 66, also Adaptec 6805.

In every other ( even older) mainboards from other manufacturers the 6805 will work.

It´s really a shame that just Intel seems to be incapable to get mainboards working 100% together with well-known raid controllers.

Yes, test everything against everything isn´t maybe possible, but leading raid controller manufacturers like Adaptec or LSI should normaly working, I think??

Sorry Intel, will never every buy mainbords from you...

    Hello Iceman,

Intel® validated the compatibility with RAID controllers on the Intel® Server Boards only, therefore, these devices may or may not work on Intel Desktop boards.

Please be aware that Intel ®  attempt to make as many third party components compatible as possible, but do to the large quantity of these products we cannot always guarantee compatibility.

    Regards.
