I keep getting random hangs on Core I7-2600k using Integrated graphics.

    wilhil

      Hi,

I purchased a few machines for myself and clients consisting of a Core I7-2600k and a Asrock H67DE3 Motherboard, 16GB memory running Windows 7 (Can give other specifications, but not sure if relevant).

I chose the H67 and a 2600k as overclocking is not that important but I wanted the 3000 graphics as it is meant to be better in the K variant.

When watching video or similar activities, at random, the system will just freeze for anything from 5 seconds (which happens frequently) down to around half an hour, the message that comes up is as follows:

      intel3.png

I have only forcefully reset it twice when it hung for over 20 minutes and I needed to get on with work urgently.  This is a log of the reliability monitor which shows this has been  happening a lot! I am getting this around 5 or more times a day.

      video intel.png

I purchased 4 machines for my clients and one for me. One of the people the machine was for was complaining of similar problems, and as they are a good client and I am known for reliability, I simply purchased 4 Nvidia cards and installed them just in case the other 3 develop similar problems - this seemed to fix the problem for them.

Whilst annoying for myself, I was ok with it, until yesterday, it froze whilst copying to a USB stick and it made the stick corrupt.

However, I would really like to get this resolved for mine and possibly revert back to the built in graphics for the client (bit useless having the K model CPU on a board that doesn't support Overclocking whilst not using internal graphics!)

I was 99% sure it was a driver issue, but during the last freeze, I tried pressing the reset button and nothing happened (power button worked as normal). - I am not sure if this is relevant - now that the machine is EFI and not standard BIOS, I thought it is possible that basic functions such as this are handled differently.

I originally purchased Sandy Bridge machines with the problem chipset - these were all to replace those and I do not feel confident in the platform at the moment!

The problem could be with : Driver (still personally what I think, but I could be wrong), Motherboard or cpu.

In case it helps, here is the detailed log from Reliability monitor after it has recovered.

dude i am having problems with the intel HD graphics on my laptop too. Not getting any answers yet. Better if possible get it refunded and get the older version chip and save yourself time and headache. This is exciting new technology but bound to have tons of hiccups.

I got a call from Intel and was told it is most likely a driver issue and that I should be using the Asrock provided driver.

The Asrock driver has issues when running at 1080p making it completely unusable.

Intel released updated drivers a few days ago but when I tried them, the crashes become MUCH more frequent, however, upon recovering, it did not state that it was a graphics crash - but that is still my assumption.

I have now downgraded to 8.15.10.2342 and again, seems to only crash when doing graphical activities... but this is by far not ideal.

I am very annoyed as I only got a 2600k for the graphics as I did not want to overclock. If I change to a graphics card, not only will it use a lot more power (which I wanted to cut down on), it would be a waste having the K variant. I am considering switching to a p based board, but I am not very happy at all.

I am so fed up and getting no where! The last update which I was waiting ages for made it much worse - random crashes every 20-30 seconds and I had to roll back.

I am now no longer selling this configuation and recommending others to do the same.

It appears this may be related to another issue we are currently working to resolve, http://communities.intel.com/thread/20439?start=165&tstart=0 . We are currently testing a driver fix and should be able to post it to Download Center in the next few weeks.

                  Hi there!

If you are receiving this error “Your system has recovered from a serious error”, please check below for possible solution.

                  http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-009483.htm?wapkw=%28OCA+graphics%29

Basically, you need to download and install the latest graphics driver. For your information latest version posted is 8.15.10.2361

If you need additional details about installing generic drivers, try this link

I have the exact same issue with my i5-2400 and H67 as the original poster. The problem is so severe that I'm forced to use a dedicated video card whereas, similarly to wilhil, I switched to SB in order to save on the electricity bill (among other things of course). I hope you'll find a solution and fix the driver soon because the current situation is unbearable.

                        Yups

What Mainboard Bios version are you running?

I have a similar system and not such issue.

                          1.40 newest version

updated from 1.2 where i had the problems, too.

all drivers are up to date.

I support the thread. Have the same Issue.

Using 2600K HD3000 Graphics on ASRock Z68Pro3-m Mainboard. 8GB G-Skill RAM. Get hangs mostly browsing.

Please try 1080p youtube music + scrolling and fast zooming in google maps with landscape enabled if weird sound errors occur.

Also sorry that I started a new thread about this issue before I found this one here.

                            cheers,

It seems the problem might be related to specific motherboards when using the integrated graphics, rather than the graphics driver itself. I use 2600K's HD3000 graphics on the Intel DH67BL board, and didn't get problems you guys said quoted.

                                Hello.

I have the same problems under Windows 7 SP1 x64 and it's very frustating. Severel freezes more times a day.

Freeze during Copy or using a Virtual machine can result in data loss/corruption.

                                The freeze occurs randomly:

Sometimes surfing in Firefox, Sometimes gaming and last time after a fresh boot during Windows Performance Index measureing.

I tried several generic Intel Driver Versions (2291, 2347, 2361, 2401) with no Luck.

Also the manufactor driver from Asrock (2361) has the same issues.

I also did powercfg /hibernate off because I thought its a Standby/Hibernation problem.

Windows problem solution told me that HP is interested about this error. Windows opened this link https://www.hpwebgen.com/questions.aspx?id=20401&pass=7508 and I reported it in their webform '0x117 Intel Timeout Driver Restart'

                                My specs are:

                                  Hi,

I already posted to tell that I have the same problem. Still not solved.

However I think I am able to reproduce the error anytime I want. I was just using a Blender file for 3D modeling and for some reason I get the display driver error every time I try to modify the model. Blender uses openGL only. I am listening to online music at the same time - if that matters.

If there is some way to record the bug or error I would be happy to deliver. Maybe that would help someone to help us.

                                  greetings,

                                    Hi,

(Please make a Systemrestore Point / Backup before testing this. No responsiblity for this information. It worked for me since 2 days.)

                                    I did the following:

I deinstalled all Intel Management Engine Software,

then went into the controlpanel -> System -> Device Manager and choosed Intel Management Engine

(Device ID something with PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A)  in the Systemdevices category and deinstalled the driver.

Now I have an Unknown Device, which I wanted.

Without Intel Management Engine my Computer doesn't clock down the CPU anymore, but now I have 2 days without freezes / Graphic Driver resets.

Again. Please make a backup before uninstall anything.

Sorry for my english, but It's not my native language and I have a german Windows 7. I hope I translated it correctly.

If somebody wants to test this too, I would be happy to hear your positive or negative report and your testing method (uninstall or deactivate).

Update 20.06.2001 16:36 : Today I had a driver reset, but I saw that I had two Intel(R) Management and Security Application Local Management Services running (LMS and UNS). I deactivated and stopped them now, but I was wondering because I deinstalled the Software and the Services were still running. Deactivating the Intel Management Engine in the Device Manager doesn't seem to help, because I installed (for testing purpose) the Software again (And had immediately a Graphic Driver Reset.) but the Management Engine Device Driver didn't install. So I guess the Software and after deinstalling the 2 services caused my 2 driver Resets.

                                    Greetings,

                                    Kukki
