i also had this type of problem which is retrying to intall Rapid Storage Technology with a version 10.1.0.1008 and found out that the problem occured after intalled INF Update Utility with a version 126.96.36.1995....Currently, i only can intall previous version of Rapid Storage Techology.Hoping for newer version to solve this type of problem and hope it will solve yours too.
Very interesting, there are no downloads available! Perhaps someone at Intel has recognized that there is a problem? I was wondering if part of the problem in updating RST lies in the fact that maybe it is also necessary to update the INF Update Utility to the current ver. 188.8.131.525
Does anyone think that this is contributing to the update problem?
I see the 10.1.0.1008 version available for download on the intel website here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19607/eng/iata_enu.exe&lang=eng&Dwnldid=19607
In fact, I installed it on one of my system's yesterday and didn't see an issue. (Note: I chose not to install the ICC during the install)
This is very odd. I went to the site and it indicated no downloads were available as another poster pointed out.
The file you downloaded is dated 11/29/2010. The file that I downloaded previously, although the same version, was dated March 2011. So..........what's going on? Did they revert back to an earlier candidate but retain the same version number? I will download the version you have indicated. Hopefully, it will work without any more headaches. Thanks for posting.
I have yet to resolve this problem. I uninstalled the previous version of RST and still get the error message when I try to install the current version. I am wondering if it is necessary to update the Chipset Utiliity Software in order to update RST.
Another question I have is why is it that some people are having this problem updating RST and others don't. Finally, if I can't find a solution to this problem, is there anyone at Intel whom I can contact?
Thanks in advance for your reply,
Yeah, that solves the issue for me.
I suspect the cause is INF Update Utility v184.108.40.2065 changing the Intel SATA AHCI Controller driver to v220.127.116.111, incompatible with RST v10.1.0.1008"
I did not update the INF utility. I was using ver 18.104.22.1685. Did you have the same problem using INF Update utility ver 22.214.171.1241?
"For anyone interested I have figured out a workaround!
Procedure that worked for me is as follows:
- download driver only (unpack)
- update drivers via Device Manager (from your computer)
- restart your PC
- now try to install RST
- it worked for me"
I want to make sure I've got this right. Did you download the followingn as the driver:
Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 10.1.0.1008 files for 64-bit OS - used to preinstall RAID driver (F6 during Windows* setup),
Date 12/15/2010 Version 10.1.0.1008..
After the driver was installed, which RST file did you install?
I'll explain again with some more details
- Download 10.1.0.1008 drivers that are intended for F6 installation (floppy) depending on your system that would be either 64 or 32 bi
- Unpack downloaded files to preferred folder
- Go to Device Manager >Storage Controllers>Intel; then double-click go to driver’s tab click update driver and browse to you extracted files
- After update finished restart your system
- Download http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19607
- Install it
- This time should install without any problems – at least worked for me.
Note: Both RST and the driver are the same version 10.1.0.1008
