    ICH10R Raid Chipset

      Hello all

Have a few things to try and resolve.

Since we are on a tight budget we decided to build our own File Server which currently is running Server 2008 64bit.

One of the parts was the selction of a Gigabyte X58-USB3 motherboard which supports Raid 0 thru Raid 10.

      The Chipset is a ICH10R.

Currently I have within the Chipsets Bios configured a 4 disk SATA RAID 5.

Now I need a tool to manage these drives from within the running OS to make sure if one dies I can at least see this

      without rebooting the box...

According to Gigabyte their suggestion was to install Intels Rapid Storage Manager however they claimed that it is not

      supported under Server 2008.

So I found this utility and according to what I see here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19607#help

it seems to state that it does?

So long story short here are the errors I am getting...

      Description:
        Stopped working

      Problem signature:
        Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
        Application Name: IAStorUI.exe
        Application Version: 10.1.0.1008
        Application Timestamp: 4cd508b4
        Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll
        Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385
        Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdbdf
        Exception Code: e0434f4d
        Exception Offset: 0000b727
        OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.272.7
        Locale ID: 1033

I also found another item named Intel Control Center which is a part of the install if selected and it also gives me this error:

      Description:
        Stopped working

      Problem signature:
        Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
        Application Name: IntelControlCenter.exe
        Application Version: 1.2.1.1007
        Application Timestamp: 4b046f05
        Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll
        Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385
        Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdfe0
        Exception Code: e0434f4d
        Exception Offset: 000000000000aa7d
        OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.272.7
        Locale ID: 1033

So in short I currently have no management tool to check my disk states.

      Any thoughts or suggestions?

I honestly do not want to put this server online with no way to see if it could be dying...

      Thanks So much

      Clayton
