Anti-virus or firewall settings may be interfering with the Intel AppUp(SM) center's ability to connect to the store backend.  What anti-virus package are you currently running?  Are you connecting from a home network or are you behind a corporte firewall?  This will help us to troubleshoot your issue further.

Might be useful to more prominently communicate that it's not available for 64 bit computers.  Would have saved me and countless others time and aggravation.  I have to say I'm disappointed with this roll-out.

    Hello,

We have recently started testing for 64 bit compatibility and only apps that have been tested and approved for 64 bit (a limited amount at this time) will show up on 64 bit systems. Currently Validation is going through and retesting all apps for 64 bit compatibility.

Same problem:   Communication failure (Error -2).

Windows XP, Avast anti-virus (currently disabled), no firewall.

Isn't this rather pathetic that Intel can't even write an apps store that can run on 64-bit versions of Windows 7

Apart from Enterprise edition. Which is odd, as the last thing an Enterprise would want is for users to be downloading their own apps!

Massive, massive fail from Intel. I thought the push was to support the 64-bit features of your won chipsets.

So if you want to play Angry Birds, anyone with 64-bit Windows will just have to go and buy an Apple product (excluding MacBooks, as they have Intel CPUs) or an Android phone instead. And download it from their app stores.

I was going to sign up to try and get a free copy of Angry Birds via a PC World offer. I'm typing this on a recently bought PC World PC. Core i3.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed, as I was told this was the future.

App Up is the ONLY app, apart from some games, that as failed to work on this PC so far. Even if I've had to use 32-bit compatability mode with some programs.

Massive, massive fail. You've just lost a customer. Probably forever. Wish I'd stuck with an AMD processor for my new PC now.

    Hello,

We are experiencing a high level of utilization which may affect the Intel AppUp(TM) client performance. We are working the issue now and will update the community soon. Please keep trying as most users are able to connect.

    Thanks,

    Steve

its not even 64bit win 7 . xp vista all gets same stupid message. i believe theres problem in intel app server.

BTW, might be an idea if the AppUp installer actually checked the version of Windows it's being installed on, and told potential customers that most versions of 64-Bit Windows 7 are a no-go area. Error code -13 doesn't really cut the mustard. Especially in the 21st Century. Having error codes without automatic explanations mainly went out in the latter half of the 20th century for consumer products. This is the kind of reporting I'd expect from some obscure diagnostic utility, not an apps store!
