Event has ended
There's a lot going on next week if you are in the Bay Area: the mother of all Maker Faires is May 17-18, of course. Come check out the Intel booth. In addition, Mike Bell has a keynote at MakerCon on May 14. (The little gathering that used to be the Hardware Innovation Workshop has grown up to be a real conference.) And on May 15, Intel is co-hosting -- along with the Maker Education Initiative -- a gathering of educators and students for a workshop on education makers right here on the Intel Santa Clara campus.

The Intel booth will feature hands-on learning activities and demonstrations of projects made with Intel® Galileo, including an interactive 1000-LED matrix (by Joey Hudy with Stewart Christie and John Oliver), and a "pick-and-place machine" for making pebble mosaics (by Michael McCool), plus a whole lot more. Visitors to the Intel booth will have the chance to create their own magic wands using craft materials and simple circuits and then bring them to life with the Intel® Galileo development board (enhanced by a little project called ConnectAnyThing by the UXR team in Intel Labs). Jim and Schuyler St Leger will be there as well, with a "bug dropper." Confused? You'll just have to come see it...

Presented by Intel, the first MakerCon event will feature maker workshops, sessions and keynotes, including a keynote presentation by Mike Bell, Intel vice president and general manager of the New Devices Group. The event will bring together a variety of individuals at the forefront of the maker movement, spanning experts in digital manufacturing, technology and tools providers.
