In November 2000, several organizations proposed initiatives non-specific, non-controlled financial TLDs (e.g. .fin or .cash). It turned that control, and therefore specificity, are fundamental requirements. This also means that all the rules in a given financial TLD must be adapted to the purpose of the TLD. Moreover, domains registered in financial TLDs generally do not point to web sites. They are generally not used for the routing of email either.
