    How to setup more detailed log files for Intel® IT Director

    By default, no log files are enabled by Intel IT Director

    End users can enable ITD log files by the registry key and the log file can be found at the installation folder with format like: ISBNHULog<YYYYMMDD>.txt.

    To enable LOG files, modify the registry key based on 32 or 64-bit operating systems:

    1: For 32bit system, please create:

    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Intel(R) IT Director\Log], and then create two keys as below:

    LogLevel=dword: 00000000; LogTarget=dword: 00000007

    2: For 64bit system, please create:

    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\Intel(R) IT Director\Log], and then create two keys as below:

    Loglevel=dword: 00000000; LogTarget=dword: 00000007

    Automatically disabling the Intel® AMT Privacy Notification window

    However, you can also disable the Privacy Notification window and still keep the application running by modifying a registry key.

    To modify the registry key:

    1. Open the registry and locate this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Network_Services\atchk

    2. Create a new dword value named +MinimizePrivacyIconAtStart +and set it to 00000001.

    Best Known Methods (BKMs)

    Intel IT Director log files

    By default, Intel IT Director log service is disabled. But if you want to check the log file for troubleshooting, it can be enabled by change the registry key setting for Intel IT Director. The log file will be stored at the installation folder with format: ISBNHULog<YYYYMMDD>.txt after you enable it.

    1) For 32bit system, please change the register key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Intel(R) IT Director\Log],

    Set the value to:

    LogLevel=dword: 00000000; LogTarget=dword: 00000007

    2) For 64bit system, please change the register key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\Intel(R) IT Director\Log], Set the value to:

    Loglevel=dword: 00000000; LogTarget=dword: 00000007

    Reboot the system to make the Intel® IT Director start to trace the log messages.

        We recommend you change back the settings to default after you finish the troubleshooting to avoid the log file size increase.

    Monitoring the clients in my network after installing a 3rd party firewall

    By default, Intel IT Director uses TCP Port 17000 for communication with client. If your client has some 3rd party firewall software installed, the software may block this port. It would prevent Intel IT Director from being able to monitor the client.

    Please refer 3rdparty firewall user guide to release the port 17000 if it is blocked. You also can check if the port is active from Intel IT Director installed system by running “netstat –an” from command line.

    If only windows firewall is enabled in your client, please re-run Intel IT Director configuration tool.

    Monitoring non-vPro Technology platforms with Intel IT Director

    Intel IT Director communicates with others by using WMI or WCF Protocol.  Intel IT Director can not monitor the non-vPro platform computer(s) if no WMI account is created on each platform.  Intel IT Director provides a configuration tool which can be used on non-vPro platform computers and after configuration, those systems will be detected and can be monitored.

    Please refer Intel IT Director User Guide on how to use the Intel IT Director configuration tool to monitor the clients on non-vPro platform computers.
