    Background

     

    The Signal Fish is a flying robotic sensor platform that's part of Intel's Inside the Blue community project. It uses sonar-based object avoidance and a random walk algorithm to explore an area, and visually responds with LEDs when it finds a sufficiently strong WiFi signal. This is an advanced build that requires good soldering and fabrication skills. The Signal Fish has two modes: explorer mode, where it acts on its own, and manual flight, which allows you to fly the fish using your phone or tablet. The Signal Fish communicates wirelessly over XBees to a Brain Coral that digests the sensor data and tells the Signal Fish what to do.
