It’s been a busy first day here in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress. We just conquered our first day and couldn’t be more excited about the event and the news and partnerships coming from it. If you can’t be in Barcelona to join in on the fun, we’re recapping our top five highlights from day 1.
One of the biggest announcements from day of MWC comes the launch around the 64-bit Intel® Atom™ Processor, formerly “Merrifield”. The processor, built for smartphones and tablets, discloses details of next-generation, 64-bit, quad-core Atom processor for Android mobile devices, code named “Moorefield”

MWC was the first to hear the introduction of the Intel® XMM™ 7260 platform with competitive LTE-Advanced features and performance. There is also a growing adoption of the Intel® XMM™ 7160 multimode LTE platform.
New Multi-Year Agreements
Intel announced multi-year agreements with Lenovo, ASUS, Dell and Foxconn. The partnerships expand the availability of tablets and smartphones with Intel® Atom™ processors and communication platforms.
McAfee Mobile Security Offering
McAfee released a details-free, full-featured Mobile Security offering for iOS and Android mobile devices and mobile device management extensions for Intel® Device Protection Technology. The offering is also available in 30 languages.
The initiative is to integrate security more deeply into the consumer experience for Intel customers.
Collaborations with Alcatel-Lucent and Cisco
In addition to the exciting partnerships from MWC, Intel announced upcoming collaborations with both Alcatel-Lucent and Cisco. The collaborations are aimed at transforming network infrastructure to accelerate the Internet of Things.
