old LGA 775 CPU

I have an old Pentium IV 530J CPU that came from a machine with a dead D915 chipset.

Will that old CPU work on newer models of motherboard for LGA 775 without concern?

For fun I installed the old game called Freelancer (Feb 2003) and it runs OK

the problem is with the in game menus, they tend to tear suggesting the GPU is working up a sweat.

Travelling from place to place is fine, other spacecraft in the vicinity all render fine too.

The game is not very demanding so I wanted to see how playable it is.

I noticed when searching for programmer manuals, I get nothing but broken links.

Tell your webmaster to use Google webmaster tools which can identify broken links etc.

my netbook has a 3150 graphics attached to the N450 processor, not a problem

I am currently using the netbook as a desktop with a 19" screen (1440x900) and I was wondering how big of screen the 3150 can support

I was hoping that if I get a new screen that the chip can support 1920x1080 which is now very affordable

usually I use this screen with a gaming rig, which is down due to a motherboard RMA

so how far can the integrated video go?

A while ago a friend showed me a CG package he found on NVIDIA's site for OpenGL development.

So I figured why not take a look. The SDK comes with a bunch of tutorials and most of them actually work on the netbook.

The video is the 3150 for what its worth.

About the only one that did not work was the particle system. Guess there is a problem with the OpenGL implementation.

I realize my netbook is not a super performance machine, and I was suprised by the ability.

overclocking an Atom CPU

I was wondering if anyone has overclocked an Atom CPU

My netbook has one in it, N450 and it seems sluggish but not too bad. Came with Windows 7, XP would have been faster but its past its best before date.

I doubled the RAM and it helped a lot, Windows 7 is a memory pig at the best of times

Long ago I recall some software for XP that could show the CPU state and so on.

Anthing that will work with Vista and Server 2008?

I am not looking for overclocking, more to see what the CPU is up to

Atom Memory Compatibility

OK I have an Intel Atom CPU on my netbook system board, seems to be a catch all device.

So the $64 question is, can I use any SODIM DDR2 with the N450 processor.

Seems to be lots of offerings on eBay so I wanted to be sure I am not going to be disappointed.

The netbook is a Compaq Mini CQ10-400. I have the servive manual and its not very specific on the memory compatibility.

Reason I ask is I have seen a lot of abuses with portable machines in the past.

Got an old machine that is dead, has a LGA 775 CPU so I was speculating if it would work on a modern LGA775 board? This CPU is from an old AGP8 based machine so its likely a slower single core model.
