Official Black-screen thread - We need your help!

Hello Graphics Communities!

For a very long time now we've been trying to track down, diagnose, and correct an issue that seems to be happening all across the board with Intel® Graphics. Users, for various reasons - seem to have issues with OEM systems (and Intel® NUC's) losing their display for different events.

Installing new drivers

Rebooting

Computers idling, going into sleep or hibernation

Other random events

We have run into a stumbling block in fixing this issue, and that is that we are unable to reproduce the symptoms above. We have ordered exact-matching systems, displays and cables - and matched our configurations to those of the users having problems, and we are completely unable to reproduce the problem. The issue is complex, but in this particular case - it stems from the fact that two users with the same configuration are not guaranteed to have the problem, it varies from user to user, system to system, display to display.

What we at Intel® are asking now though is 2-fold. If you are one of these users (or a business) experiencing a consistent black-screening issue as mentioned above, we would like to procure your COMPLETE system configuration. This means, we want you to ship us (at our expense) - the System (desktop or laptop), display (TV, monitor) AND the cable (hdmi, dp, dvi, vga) used by your system when it starts to have a blackscreen failure. If you are willing to do this, you should be aware that we will keep your system for an extended period, and will compensate you by replacing your setup.

NOW! Even if you are not willing to send us your system, and would just like to inform us that you have a black-screen issue. That is okay too. Even if you have already submitted this info in some of our other black-screen threads, feel free to submit it here too. Please submit the following information into this thread so that we can continue to document all possible instances of it. Just copy and paste the below list and put in relevant information (completely!). *NOTE* If you have not already done so, please update your BIOS and Display Driver to the latest version available. We cannot accept a report of a failing configuration that is not up to date. Additionally, if you are running your display through a 3rd party device such as a projector or an AV/R (receiver), you need to show that the problem still occurs without the extra device connected (a direct connection from system to display is required).

Are you willing to send your system to us?
What is diff. between Mobile Intel HD vs. Intel HD Graphics 4000?

So what is the difference? Thanks in advance.

I have to restart my computer to detect the second display.

I.e. it cannot be selected (e.g. with ⊞-P). In the Intel software only one monitor is available.

Only after a restart the second monitor becomes available.

OS I use is Windows 7.

I have a Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H - ATX - LGA1155 Socket mainboard.

With my previous set-up (some monitor) this was not an issue. So I assume this is not a problem with the monitor or with Windows 7, but with Intel Graphics.

The reason I reconnect my second display, is because I use that display also for watching television.

Could someone help me fix this issue?
4000 HD Graphics HD Audio

I recently purchased an ASROCK HT Vision media player with Windows 8 as an OS. I am attempting to get the HDMI sound to work with my Pioneer VSX917. I have never had an issue with past media players. The pioneer requires both the optical and HDMI to be connected (prior to going to the television) in order to utilize the HDMI audio signal. Also, the cables are new and have been tested on other units so the problem is not with the cables.

In Windows the HDMI shows the Phillips TV as the audio end point and there is no sound at the Pioneer receiver via HDMI. Video is fine and audio is being passed through to Phillips TV through the Pioneer but picked up there. Sure the optical is working but will not support higher level audio and bit streaming. When testing the audio output higher level audio formats (TruHD, Dolby II, Etc.) fail as supported. So I am not truly clear is this is an Intel audio or Windows audio issue. Using XBMC's WASAPI audio engine fails to pass audio through the HDMI as well, although the optical is passing audio via this method. 24/96K audio files are converted to weird sounding PCM and are not listenable.

I have attempted several driver updates from both Realtek and Intel and am using the latest versions of both, but with no luck. The primary use of this entire system is listening to music and the difference in sound quality is stark (at least to me) having used it in prior media players with the same configuration (Both Windows 7 and a Linux OS). This has been very disappointing and at this point really frustrating. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful.

GMA 3600 Driver for Windows 8

Dear community, dear Intel support,

2 Month ago, I decided to buy myself a tablet computer, simply because I wanted to use the new Microsoft Windows 8. I've found one with an Intel n2600 processor, a processor that was release about one year ago. Because it was shipped with Windows 7, I personally checked, and I got the information that all my system components would be compatible, from the official Microsoft website. When The computer then arrived, I installed the support assistant, which reconfirmed the Information I've already known: The Intel N2600 Processor with the GMA 3600 Chipset is fully compatible with Windows 8

The trouble came after the Installation: The problem wasn't even that the Driver wouldn't be working well, but the Graphicsdevice wasn't even recognizes! Long story short: There is NO WAY for me to get that device running, even though it't a very new device and I was told it was going to work.

No I know, it's a chipset that is built in a lot of computers, even in some very new ones. Because of that, I'm by far not the only one with this problem: There are a lot discussions going on right now, concerning the same problem. But maybe, it still isn't enough that Intel finally realizes that they need to follow the needs of their customer: The only thing we can do right now is to ask Intel to provide that Driver, over and over again that they will figure out that this really is a serious thing, and that it's concerning a lot more people than they actually might think.

By the way, here is a petition I've found: It's not me who created it, but I believe with things like that we can show how may we are, so please, take a moment and sign this petition: Windows 8 support for Intel Atom Tablets

I hope you can all support me, and who knows, maybe Intel could do something about that?

Sincerely,

Imer

Removed the Intel processor graphics software from add/remove programs. I downloaded the latest driver from Lenovo's site and the same thing happens. When I try to open the graphics properties the wizard shows up, I pick any option and the window immediately shows up in the task bar, 2 instances running. I also tried using the generic driver from the Intel site with the same results. Used CCcleaner, and did a full check disk of the system, still same issue. Any ideas?
