Dear sir,

I have big problem regardig RAM qualification. Please tell me how can I check my ram compatible with mother board? My mother board manual indicated that only support 333 and 400MHz. But when I bought they install 533Mhz DDR2  256 ram. But I used abou 3years without any problem. After 2years I installed another speed 667MHz DDR2 1GB ram. That days my computer knowladge is very low. When I surf internet I see we can use compatible speed RAM only.

My mother board is INTEL 915GAV.

System properties indicate 1.2...GB of RAM like that.

RAMs

KVR533D2N4/256 and KVR667D2N5/1G

    Hi there,

    Please see the link below:

The memory needs to have these requirements, Intel has tested and validated some of the memory. If you are buying a memory that is not on the list, you will need to make sure that memory meets the reuirements below.

    System Memory Features
The boards have four DIMM sockets and support the following memory features:

    • 2.6 V (only) DDR SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
    • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported.
    • 4 GB maximum total system memory
    • Minimum total system memory: 128 MB
    • Non-ECC DIMMs
    • Serial Presence Detect
    • DDR 400 MHz and DDR 333 MHz SDRAM DIMMs

    Hope this helps a bit.

    All the best,

    Regards,

    Aryan

    Dear sir,

Thank you for your reply. I can't understand about that. I haven't good knowladge regarding this. Previously I told you that my mother board is INTEL 915GAV. It is not 915GAV. It is INTEL 915GEV. I have get a report regarding my computer details using  CPU-Z programe. If you have free time please check that one.I have attached with this post. I think you can understand about my computer and you can give answer about my problem.

Always my system properties displayed I have 1.25GB memory. But I'm not sure both rams are working properly. Now I have installed Windows 7. I want minimum 1GB memory. Because I want to check whether this RAMs are support or not with this Mother board.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Lahiru

    Hello,

Well there are several ways to identify the board correctly:

    1. Identify it physically - check the aa number and serial number. or Identify it from the bios.

    2. Use this Intel Tool

    3. Install the Intel Desktop Utilities

Assuming that the board is D915GEV,

    System Memory Features
The board has four DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:

    • 1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
    • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported
    • 4 GB maximum total system memory
    • Minimum total system memory: 128 MB
    • Non-ECC DIMMs
    • Serial Presence Detect
    • DDR2 533 MHz or DDR2 400 MHz SDRAM DIMMs

    Link to verify this

You can see that the board supports DDR2 533 or 400 Mhz only.

So the KVR667D2N5/1G is not officially supported.

You can verify the tested list by Kingston on this link

    As a reference for you:

    PC2 3200 = DDR2 - 400

    PC2 4200 = DDR2 - 533

    PC2 5300 = DDR2 - 667

    PC2 6400 = DDR2 - 800

    All the best,

    Regards,

    Aryan
