well the support suck. i battle now for 2 weeks with support to sort out a problem for me. they came back and tell me there is no such problem...
i do have a compatibility broblem with the dp45sg and the q8300 cpu. i test 2 x q8300 cpu's on 3 x dp45sg m/b and it does not post.test m/b with different cpu's and all is working well. test the cpu's on other intel m/b and all it well.
WHAT ANSWER!! THIS IS THERE'S...
"using the system configuration that you provided me with I made a replication with the following system configuration. I came to the conclusion that the Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q8300 is working fine with Intel Desktop Board DP45SG (Bios v 0116) without any problems. There are no incompatible issue as far as we can see. Furthermore we have no specific reports of an incompatiblity between the Intel Desktop Board DP45SG and the Core2 Quad Processor Q8300.
Hope u guys will get a better answer...........that answer is not working for me.
How much wattage is your power supply? I'm wondering if maybe the wattage is low.
I had a similar problem when I used a 550 watt power supply & a video card that needed 450 watts of power to run. After I connected my hard drive & cd drive, it didn't want to post at all due to low power. I see that the Q8300 CPU needs 95watts by itself just like my Q9550. Some motherboards use less power than others & I'm not sure what the wattage rate is on the DP45SG but I'm wondering if that is happening to yours.
Wel i test it with 400Watt PSU and 550Watt PSU. If I install my Q9550 onto the m/b it works fine with all the specs, the Q8300 does not post.then i install the Q8300 onto a DG31PR with a 350Watt PSU and it works. They say that is a FSB1333 CPU but But does not work on 1 or the 3 m/b i have, but on an FSB800 m/b it works????????????????????
Yeah... that makes entirely no sense how a Q9550 will work but the Q8300 won't in the DP45SG. What model video card do u use for the DP45SG?
Hey PC-Tech,
I just installed my video card and i am getting 3 beeps. Here is my machine set up. Keep in mind i just purchased all of this equipment before i joined this forum. Here is the set up:
The DP45SG Intel motherboard
8GB of PC-3-10666 1333MHz Patriot memory
Seagate 1TB SATA drive
550 Watt Power supply
ATI Radeon HD 4670 PCI Express 1GB/GO GDDR3
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (2.8GHz)
Lite-On Blue Ray DVD palyer
That is my set up but i do have a question reguarding the PCIX video set up. From what i read and understand, i don't think i need 2 video cards, OR do I? I am not setting this machine up for gaming but for video editing. I know i should have done more homework on this seeing i used to be a system builder about 7 years ago but i know alot changes in that period of time so here i am trying to get this to work. When i built systems in the past using Intel motherboards that was our MB of choice seeing we always seemed to run into problems with the Asus, MSI boards. Any advice will help!!! Thanks in advance guys and gals.
Hmm.. according to their manual, 3 beeps means it has no memory.
Try using 1 stick of memory in the blue slot to configure the BIOS & to install an operating system.
Then install another stick of memory in the other blue slot once you're done.
Once everything starts working, try adding the other 2 memory sticks in the black slots.
And if they don't work then you may have to update the BIOS (I'm still unsure if those are supported or not).
It's a pain that you can't put everything on the board it & have all of it work at once.
I remember reading somewhere that 8 GB using all 4 slots in the computer won't run at 1333MHz.
It will drop to 1066MHz but this is unconfirmed for me.
As for video, u just need 1 video card installed & since it's a PCI-E X16, u will have to install it in the blue PCI-E x16 slot closest to the CPU & memory.
Once everything is setup u should be able to add another video card just like it but you'll need a higher wattage power supply for using 2 of those, I saw that the ATI Radeon HD 4670 requires 400watts by itself.
Hope everything works out for ya.
The graphics card is a Leadtek 9800GT 512MB..
Hmm that is kind of odd. You've got plenty of power for that board with those items. You only use 495 watts for the CPU & video so you should have plenty of power for whatever else you put in. Did u send them your motherboard and cpu to test the problem? I remember they claimed they used the same processor and motherboard to try and replicate the problem, but did they use "yours" to run the tests? I'd put in a RMA request to see if they will test yours together since they can't seem to figure it out. Maybe the CPU is bad.
Hi all,
I have the exact same problem (Hangs/Reboots). This has been going on for the last 2 - 3 months. I have pretty much done everything everyone else has done and the problem remains. I bought 2 of the following and both have the same issue:
Intel DP45SG Board
4 x 2GB Transcend DDR1333
Q9400 CPU
Graphics cards also the same (Gainward Nvidia 8800GTS) but they were bought quite some time back and have been running in other systems until this upgrade. I will be taking in one of the boards in this week to have tested by the supplier and if the resuls are good I'll take the other in as well. Unfortunately the one is a critical business machine that I can't do without for even a day.
I have always only used Intel boards and that is the only brand I sell to clients as well but after this episode I'm seriously rethinking that.
Hello,
I understand your condition i've also gone through the problem of system freeze using DG31PR board and i've sort out this issue by checking processes running in background and i got rid of this issue by uninstalling that program, but amazingly this issue never have been encountered in Windows Vista since i bought that board. Eventually it's the result of software running background causing this problem.I expect you can solve your problem through my suggestion.
The Intel desktop board support team has been made aware of this whole discussion. They would like you to report (or report again) this case and others like it to Intel Customer Support for further troubleshooting. Once a case or cases have been reported to the ICS contact center, it can be escalated to the board support engineers. It sounds to me like there is some sort of memory compatibility issue with the boards in question.

UPDATE*** I have built the system and the problems i have had are no longer there. I reseated the memory and the video card. System booted up fine. Installed Vista, installed programs, installed SCSI and SATA drives, did all my updates and the system is running fine. I will keep you informed of any issues in the future. The system runs rather well. Quick and responsive. My SCSI drives and SATA drive are ver respionsive. One of the SCSI drives has all my videos and when i click on the drive the video comes up very quickly. I hope this helps!!!
I've had this board for some time, buying it when it first came out. It is deffinately not up to the INTEL standard. I have nothing but INTEL MBs here (four of them) and this was by far the worst. Here is a list of "issues" I've discovered with this board:
Do not use your case front panel audio connector on the MB AUDIO connector. You'll regret it. The MB connector is not standard to anything I know out there and your sound will constantly break and pop as the MB tries to "sense" the front connector.
Do not use any PROMISE IDE or SATA board in this MB. I have three, the latest being a PROMISE Fastrak TX4310 RAID card. Causes the computer to constantly reboot as do the all the other PROMISE PCI cards I've installed in this Motherboard. Tried all three PCI slots with the same exact problem for each and every one of them. Two RAID controllers and one IDE. In fact, I'm running zero additional cards on this MB at the present time to insure stability.
The crappy RAID implementation on this board renders it impossible to install VISTA64, so I've reverted to WinXPx86 and installed the VISTA64 on my DX975 which installed without a problem because I used an IDE as the boot drive. Almost six months and many many tries later, I've had no success with VISTA64 ULTIMATE (brand new copy fresh out of the plastic). The board is configured in RAID and I've installed 4X1TB drives in RAID5 and one 500GB SATA not included in the ARRAY for the boot drive with a SATA DVD ROM. VISTA64 will report each and every time that the drives are not bootable, or in some wierd configuration not useable by VISTA64.
RANDOM REBOOTING: Yes, I had that problem. Went to two sticks of 1GB fast PATRIOT DDR3 at 1066 (the ram is rated for the next step up but the board won't run it at that speed) and now the problem is gone. I took the 8gig of DDR3 and put it in another computer. I also upgraded to an ATI 4850 and when I did, I had to upgrade from a 550W Antec HE550 and drop in a TAGAN 700W powersupply (weird issues = powersupply and I was having wierd issues which were fixed with the newer powersupply. The PS was probably marginal anyway for this many drives).
After all that, I can report this board as ROCK STEADY now for quite some time. Not useful for what I wanted, but no problems with the MB now. It sets in a lowly place to play the random game and be a repository for the house server. It's not capable of performing the rendering and video tasks I had hoped for under 8gig of DDR3 and VISTA64 ULTIMATE. Of course, INTEL won't take it back since it is performing something.......Makes you wonder if it wasn't built for XP, 2gig of RAM and a lowly Q6600 in the first place and never tested above that level.
I hope you find success with your version of the DP45SG. I consider mine an "expensive failure".
Hello,
I think you should go for DG45ID i'm also going to buy that board and if there's any problem in that board report me. First thing that may be with RAID is
support of Harddrives. Suppose if harddrive supports mobo may be mobo doesnot or viseversa. Please keep in mind when using memory only use tested memory which have certified for use with mobo. These precautions will ensure your compatibility of boards with devices and so on.
Hi all.
I'm back from my vacation. Reading all your messiges and still hoping that intel is handeling this issue. For me it was already a solved problem, but i'm still working on the board to troubleshoot the problem. I did get back a few e-mails in my vacation from intel, and they indeed are working on the problem, and it looks like memory related problems with the dp motherboard series. I'm running stable with the dp45sg board but only with 1 gb corsair memory installed, and a cheap videocard. Still i have no more faith in this board. I'm still running stable with an asus motherboard, and the same hardware. I hope intel gets an solution for you all, because this is not acceptable.
As topicstarter i will keep reading all your messiges, and reply if i know something
Good luck all
