I did get some results by buying and installing an kingstonDDR3 1333Mhz 4GB kit. Then some problems went away and motherboard was more stable.
hi PC Freak
which MOBO ur talkin abt buddy is it the new one u bought or same DP45SG?
Thanks for your message. I sent Intel a troubleshoot ticket and they sent me back a bunch of links to figure it out.
The one thing I couldn't get to was their power supply list... It said 404 not found.
Hmm... that doesn't really help if i can't find the information now does it.
My power supply is a Thermaltake 850Watt & supports ATX12V & that other plug I can't remember the name that they used.
They say you can not use 2x2 plugs & lucky for me, this power supply doesn't supply a 2x2 plug so that's not what I'm using nor is it my problem. It was the closest I could come up with an answer out of the numerous links I was given.
I powerd this computer back on and mysteriously my onboard LAN is working again with no changes to anything.
Explain that one Intel because I don't have an answer for it.
This is the most sporadic, problematic, unpredictable system I've ever seen in my life.
I mean... 3 months of running everything at default settings in BIOS and then it goes haywire all of a sudden.
I changed system settings in the BIOS to everyone's recommendations and I still have the same problems...
NOW... my sound starts clicking after about 10 minutes of playing Fallout 3 & after I exited the game, the computer started reacting in the same manner except the mouse was twitchy but nothing showed up in task manager as being the culprit.
Current settings
CPU settings: 2.83Ghz @ 1.3V
MCH is at 1.1V
Memory is set to 9-9-9-24 @ 1.6V & 1333Mhz
Did I mention that now the Intel Desktop Control Center program REBOOTS my machine so I can no longer use it.
I get some stupid XTUSERVICE Warning Message in my Event Viewer:

As my frustration builds, my patience grows very thin.
I'm surprised I am able to complete this message.
I seriously have no clue what to do next.
I have the latest BIOS Version 116 installed.
This is the 1st Intel system I've built and will also be the last.
If anyone can supply any other information, that would be awesome.
As for now... I'm going to do some more research on what the other motherboards on the market can do for me at the right price.
So far I've found 3 stable ones that will support the Q9550 CPU and 4GB Corsair TW3X4G1333C9DHX G memory.
Let's hope I get an answer before I make a new purchase.![]()
its truly seems tht this board is not stable with higher voltage of any kind and thts not good ![]()
i am NOW start to loose my Paience very well and belive me my 1 word can cancel the all deal for this DP45SG mother board to my Vander, would that be enough for Intel, if this Board is doubt full then their other boards for Core i7 wont get in the market smoothly, ppl will begin to doubt to purchase Intel Boards further and i have the PROOF of it as well, this whole God Damn ********* (considered by Intel) we r putting here and there is no OFFICIAL RESPONSE to it wht the hell i should consider it? let see for the last time wht they have to resolve this issue wake up Intel PPL before its to late ![]()

As I can remember u all are running on Vista 64x.....Have u tried another version of Windows? Maybe you problem is software related?
Just a guest.....
Although i have a processor problem with the dp45sg mobo. Intel said you can use an Q8300 processor on the mobo.I test this
on 2x dp45sg mobo's with no luck. I spoke to intel support, they would have come back to me in 48hrs, but still no answer!!! I did test the processor
on a different intel mobo (dg31pr) and it worked fine.
I know mine isn't software related. I thought it was at first until I reformatted & started over.
My problem began 3 months *after* having this system.
I had BIOS ver 106 at the time & I left the computer running for the past 2 weeks straight to see how long it will go without requiring a reboot.
My old ASUS with AMD CPU systems can run for months on end without any problems & they were built over 2 years ago.
I'm using one now to type this note because my Intel won't stay on for more than 5 minutes without rebooting or hard locking.
I get intermittent hard locks & reboots during POST (with no error codes) or while I'm in BIOS setup or even when booting to Windows.
The onboard audio will skip or the onboard LAN will stop working [when it chooses to].
After several reboots they start working... ghost in the machine perhaps??
My front panel audio connector will not work properly with the motherboard anymore (this was before I discovered the LAN Problem)
Granted... I - never - used - it... the software thinks there is a microphone plugged into it, so I've unplugged the header from the motherboard & the problems went away, but I still get random audio skipping.
When I try to reinstall LAN drivers, it hard locks now.
If I turn off the onboard LAN in BIOS, the computer has a difficult time booting into Windows (or will stall out) or it will spontaneously reboot once windows is loaded or hard lock.
I recently managed to uninstall & reinstall IDCC and ran two of those performance/burnin tests.
Surprisingly they passed which was odd.
Then it started locking up again after leaving it on for several hours.
I managed to downgrade the BIOS to ver 112 & still have the same problems.
There was barely any dust in the system to short it out or to cause it to reboot/lockup spontaneously.
I checked it by uninstalling EVERYTHING & using compressed air from Dust Off(TM) & barely had any dust on the components.
The current BIOS settings are:
CPU Voltage at 1.3 (tried at 1.285v, 1.3v with same lockup results)
MCH Voltage at 1.2 (tried at 1.1v 1.2v 1.3v with same lockup results)
FSB defaulted at 1333MHZ
Memory Voltage at 1.6 (tried at 1.5v, 1.55v, 1.6v, 1.65v, 1.7v with same lockup results)
Memory Timing 9-9-9-24 (system defaults at 7-7-7-20 at JEDEC Standards with same lockup results)
Memory bus speed 1333MHz (system defaults at 1066MHz as JEDEC standards with same lockup results)
CPU stays between 38-48 degrees celcius
Memory stays between 40-42 degrees ceclius
Any other suggestions without spending money?
Because I've run out of ideas & patience...
Well how about that. I have a dp45SG that is a pile of junk in the exact same way. I too am now considering alternative processors and CPU manufactures after repeated attempts to get the same answers TO THE SAME PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING. Whats even funnier, is that I built my system about three months ago too. And guess what? Just after the start of June mine was hard-locking randomly. Want my symptoms? Want my attempts to fix? Basically went through all the same maneuvers everyone else on this thread did. Been a system builder for 10 years, been assembling my own for almost 20. Last year or so I have yet to find Intel boards that aren't problematic. Maybe time to work with GigaByte/AMD?? I'm not looking for help, just letting the thread know that there is another board out there with IDENTICAL symptoms and an IDENTICAL lack of response from Intel.
BTW: Intel DP45SG
Q9550, 8GB total Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2/4G, Dual WD Black Label SATAII/500 in RAID1, Updated BIOS, all extra settings off. It even locks up running UBUNTU live CD....
I have this same combo of hardware running on GigaByte board with 48 chipset with no issues. P.O.'d to the point of biting a nerf ball.
I managed to get a response from Intel & sent them an email on troubleshooting procedures etc.
They sent back a reply asking for my contact & motherboard info to receive an RMA.
When I did... now I get a Mail Delivery System error:
The following message to ### was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.1.1 <###>... User unknown'
(I replaced the original email address address with #'s so they won't get spammed.)
I wonder if the tech just got fired or their system is down all of a sudden...
The email server did go down momentarily. I just received a message that it is back up now. Try again.
That's funny I just sent off the email again before heading to bed.
Well... just retried but got same message from server. Did they block my email address or something? ![]()
Hello Sonny,
I was wondering if they have come up with a solution to the problem this thread is speaking of? I just purchased this motherboard and should have it up and running in the next day or two but i'd like to do what i can now and not 3 months from now! ANy suggestions or support would be appreciated. Thank you! Tee!
Hello PC-Tech,
I see the last post you had was on the 16th of this month. What were your results?? Any solutions?? Let us know! Thnx!
I still get random hard lock ups no matter what I'm doing. After a CMOS reset, the computer will act fine for a few hours then the problems start all over again. There will be random reboots or lockups during POST, during BIOS setup or if I'm in the middle of Windows. Sometimes on it's 1st initial boot up for the day, the lights & fans are on but nobody's home. It'll be just a blinking monitor with fans running. I'll turn it off, wait about 5 minutes, turn it back on and it starts working as if nothing happened. After awhile sitting idle or while in use it will repeat the problems. Some days it rebooted between 5-8 times in a row, then turned itself off. It would boot normal after I'd left it alone for a while. Must be a ghost in the machine. Perhaps it wasn't nurtured properly during it's time spent in the factory.
As far as an update, Intel just sent me some info with a disclaimer on how to return it yesterday. I hope I can find my PnP Cap or I'll be catching hell later because they won't accept a returned motherboard without it. They said I'll be either receiving a replacement or they will return it to me fixed (if they can find the problem). I'm not exactly sure how Intel handles repair procedures.
I was hoping to use this board for gaming (at least GTA IV)... but hindsight was 20/20 when I bought it without doing some research 1st. The Youtube Video from TigerDirect on this motherboard is B.S. Don't be fooled by the guy bragging about it's options. Dual PCI-E x16 slots are nice but you're better off using something supporting dual or triple SLI. It doesn't come with a bridge connector so I'm not sure if it was meant for it. I'd also recommend extra cooling support on those chipset heatsinks (they run way too hot). That little logo with the Skull & circuits is living up to it's image with this board. All it needs is some crossbones to complete the symbol. The board is by all means fast but not meant for hardcore gaming. U can put dual video cards & add a memory cooler if you use SMALL video cards that don't extend out near the memory slots (like the ATI Radeon X1300).
One drawback was I couldn't my Corsair Dominator Memory Cooler due to it being less than 2millimeters away from the video card and I didn't want to risk it burning something up. The cooler has metal brackets & I'd expect sparks to fly if I were to put it in. My PNY XLR8 GTS 250 covers half of the chipset heatsink and the circuit leads on the other side of it nearly touch the memory brackets (the card takes up 2 PCI slots & it's very long). Let's just say it's a "virgin tight" fit and there is literally no room when I use this video card. It would be like playing that old board game of Operation if I were to try and put my memory cooler in with that setup. Instead I won't be hearing a buzzing sound from hitting the sides, it would probably be more like circuits frying & popping.
As for memory: I'd recommend the 1.5 volt memory sticks from their qualified list if u can find vendors who sell them because this board is picky. You will also lose speed if using all 4 slots (drop from 1333MHz to 1066MHz). The board will run memory at default timings & voltages per JEDEC standards so you can boot w/out problems. You will have to set manual timings & voltages afterwards. My Corsair 2x2 4GB defaulted at 1066MHz * 7-7-7-20 * 1.5V & I had to manually set it to 1333MHz * 9-9-9-24 * 1.6V.
CPU: The default CPU voltage of my Q9550 was set at 1.2835v and it ran as hot as a camel's **** in the Sahara desert. It's recommended that you set the CPU voltage manually. It began to run cooler by -9 degrees celcius once I set it at 1.3v.
I found 3 or 4 motherboards that work w/my current hardware but I'll have to wait & save money to buy everything I need to get my rig running the way I want it. All I can say is good luck on your purchase and I pray yours last more than 3 months before it goes on the fritz.
I've forwarded this thread to the board team but haven't gotten a response yet.
Thank you Sonny!!! Could you please reply back as soon as Intel does??? I am not sure of the response time of Intel's tech's or this forum but if they don't in the next day or so do you try to contact them again??? Not trying to be pushy but i just purchased this motherboard and if there are problems with this board i'd like to exchange while the recipt is fresh and the store will not give me problems. If there is a fix then i'd like to keep the board. I have had Intel motherboards in the past but do not know how they are today. I am going by past experience with Intel boards. If that has changed in the past 7 years, this is information i would like to know. Thanks in advance!!
Thank you for all the information PC-Tech!!! Hopefully Intel will respond! I have used Intel motherboards in the past and have grown to like the reliability. That has been my experience any way. It have been quite a few years since i have built systems so i don't know the status of Intel's product at this point. It seems many times when a company has a good product, new managment comes in, tries to save money and the product is crap, with there name on it. It just seems the public spends alot of money for the company t realize "Hey, let's not sell this junk, were loosing sales!" Even though they made alot of $$$. I really hope this is not the case with Intel. We'll see!!!
