At my wit's end.

I am experiencing a problem whereby everytime I boot the PC from cold I get a BSOB screen caused by USBPORT.SYS.

Currently I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 with SP2 and prior to this OS I was running Vista Ultimate 32 also with SP2.

This problem has occured on both versions of Vista but never when I was running Windows XP SP3.

Once the PC reboots after the crash I am always able to login to Windows and Microsoft applet connects to the internet and

tells me that my boot failure was due to a USB driver.

I only have 4 devices connected to USB ports.

A logitech mouse

An external Seagate Disk

2 joysticks

With the exception of the mouse I have disconnected all the other USB devices but problem still persists.

I am also running the latest BIOS available for the Motherboard which is an Asus P5E3 WS Pro.

Have also updated to the latest Inter Chipset drivers for the X38 chipset here: http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-026488.htm.

Not sure if there are any more Intel drivers to update or how to resolve this issue. Very grateful for any advice. If more info is required

please let me know.
