I have installed Teleport Extender on my IBM Thinkpad x220 and also on my HTC Evo 3D now running ICS. So far I have been unable to pair the two and am getting an error. I am guessing it is a setting on my computer either in network or security as I have successfully used this tool in the past with a different PC. I would like some help in identifying what setting needs to be corrected to allow a succussful connection.
Process I am following:
Start Teleport Extender on phone
Start Teleport Extender on PC
Choose the PC name on the phone and say connect
-->it starts working saying "Connecting to service"
--> after about 15 seconds it returns a message saying "Error connecting to server"
Thanks,

Can you direct me to the setting that allows communication to the phone? It will greatly facilitate the conversation with my Network Administrator. It will also allow me to validate if it is in fact disabled or whether that is not the issue at all.

Linda,
The router needs to allow for multicast traffic, specifically it needs to allow for multicast DNS (mDNS) which is unlikely in an office or public router.

Hi Ilenek,
I have the same problem Teleport Extender Error: Error connecting to server
when I try to connect to my X201 Intel NB , however when I installed the Teleport on my privet NB at home it works fine
the diff is that my Intel NB is not part of my home local network ( obviously ) but can see all devices and computers in my home network . Any idea how to solve it ?
I have a desktop and laptop connected to home network - one via wired other via wireless. Android phone connected to home network via wireless. Able to connect Teleport Extender to desktop but not to laptop.
At first I thought it might be due to VPN client on laptop. The laptop is "seen" by the Android phone... but unable to connect.
Connection worked the first time with the phone to desktop... but ultimately I'd like to see phone to laptop since that is the unit most often used in my case.
Aside from multicast DNS, what other ports\security settings might be affecting?
