Does anyone know if DZ77BH55k (or any other Intel Z77 desktop motherboard) works with E3-1240v2?
Looking at the CPU compatibility spec here:

only 3 Xeons are supported officially (E3-1260L, E3-1225, E3-1220L). This seems odd - why only those 3 specific Xeons?

I can confirm that only the processors listed on the web site you provided will be compatible with this motherboard.
In future BIOS releases other processors may be supported, but at this time only those will be compatible.
