I'm in the middle of a debate on another forum, so I'm asking for some information. Another person posted a link to a PDF file explaining that using an aftermarket heatsink, such as a CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ will void my warranty. I find this incredulous. I've never heard of such a thing. Why would it void the warranty? Wouldn't the aftermarket heatsinks come with warnings?
So, I decided to do some research, and I found that it is often discussed, but with no true answer. I started a chat with an Intel support agent, and was told that it used to void the warranty, but if the fault was determined to be in the processor, and not caused by the HSF, the processor would be replaced...that simply using one doesn't void the warranty.
Is there any documentation that proves this?

What the agent told you is true, but currently there is no documentation about it.
