Hi ,
hope someone can help
We have purchase 2 servers with the exact same specs
Intel S3420GPLX mainboard
Intel Xeon X3430 CPU
Kingston KVR1066D3E7SK2/4GI Ram
2 x Seagate 1TB SATA ST3100528AS running Raid 1
2 x Seagate 160GB SATA ST3160318AS running Raid 1
Window Server 2008 R2 Standard 6.1.7600 BUILD 7600
Problem we are facing is we keep getting raid set degraded error,
we have tried updating the bios to but it dont seems to help fix the problem.
we have also change drive with our vendor but the problem still exist.
we are able to rebuilt the raid without problems but soon after we get the raid failure again.
Any advise on what we can do to resolve the issue. As both the systems exhibits the same errors on and off.
1. It seems you're using an old version of Matrix Storage Console utility. Please install the recent version of the utility.
2. The hard drives you're using are not tested or validated on S3420GP. It's always recommended to pick hard drives from the Tested hardware list.
3. Check your chassis for vibration. SATA drives are sensitive to vibration, and it may cause performace degrade or drive offline.
Hi Edward,
Thanks for the tips. will try out and let you have the findings..
Hope it can resolve the issue.
Hi Edward ,
We have tried upgrading the Intel Matrix Software. But the problems are still there.
we will try the procuring the hard disk as recommended and report back on how it goes.
by the way, the link to the hard disk recommendation do not have the specific model of mainboard we
are having .
is this hard drive under the recommended hdd for this server board?.
SEAGATE ST31000524NS 3.5" 1TB 7200RPM 32MB ES SATA-CONSTELLN
Any help appreciated.
The board S3420GPLX is one of the SKUs of S3420GP family, and it's covered in the S3420GP link on the tested hardware list. And yes ST31000524NS is on the tested hardware list.
Good luck.
