You need RST OROM 10.5 or later to support physical disks >= 2TB. Check with your motherboard manufacturer for a BIOS update if your RST OROM is lower than 10.5. Also, it's not supported on controllers older than ICH9.
I have a DP67BG motherboard with the 2040 BIOS on it, where would I get the new RST OROM, is it part of the BIOS update? Where do I look to find out the current version? When I tried to build Windows 7 x64 with UEFI and RAID enabled, the OS only saw a 746GB drive. I had to change it to AHCI to see the full 2794GB, which prevents me from using RAID on any of the other drives in the system since there isn't a seperate controller for the SATA III and SATA II ports. I have currently only purchased 1 because of all the issues I have heard of people having with getting these larger drives to work but I'd love to be able to have a mirror of my 3TB of information. My HDD is a Seagate Barracuda XT ST33000651AS 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s hooked up to the internal SATA port 0.
Thanks.
Yes the RST OpROM is part of BIOS update. You can check the version in the BIOS release notes.
hello
I have found this thread a little bit late and created a discussion 'How to create RAID with Intel Rapid Storage Technology 10.6.0.1002 on ICH9R with 3TB disks' before, but I don't understand all requirements to use a RAID with 3TB disks, so please can you give me the answers?
thanks
To answer your questions:
thanks Edward
but the user guide couldn't help me to get my answer for my last question.
Now I have put 2 older disks (1TB each) into the pc and 'voila' I have got the create button. That's what I was looking for. The button visibility depends on the hardware. With my 6 x 3 TB disks I havn't got it.
Hi Edward,
Just resurrect an old answer...
I've got a DQ35JO board with an ICH9D0 which I would like to recognise drives >2TB.
The latest BIOS update for this board (1143) doesn't take the RST OpROM past 10.5.
Is there a way to do this 'manually' please?
Thanks
Matt
Very unlikely. And the board has been EOL'd for two years, so there won't be any new BIOS release for it.
