hi chris
is possible to make the X5460 into a dual core. i was able to make this change in the bios on a QX9650 . i cant find the option in the bios of the X5460 ' maybe because it cant be altered like the QX9650.
can you verify this for me please.
thanks
vince
Vince, Yes it is possible to disable cores on the X5460. I've heard of this and also checked with our technology team. This core disable is done through BIOS and each system vendor makes their own BIOS's, and may or may not have this option. So there is not any standard documentation (sorry). Some server system vendors have a BIOS option which is “Disable AP” (Disable application processor). When this option is “enabled”, one core on each die is disabled. Other vendors may have the option, but called it something else.
hi chris
thanks for checking that out for me.. i will squeeze the vendor and see what they can do for me. if i can make this pc into a dual core its going to be a VERY fast computer

Hi, I am just started evaluating the vPro and had a detailed readings from intel site. Wanted to know whether vpro hardware and software is as part of the PC / Laptop what we buy (eq : - dc 7800 CMT). Do I need to buy any other software to manage centrally ? Further, our application is xp compatible, hence we had to degrade from Vista Business to XP Professional.
Hello. if you are utilizing the HP dc7800 platform that has the vPro logo on it you should be set for vPro Management. check out the vPro Expert center @ http://communities.intel.com/community/vproexpert for more information on tools that you can use to manage them. vPro is OS agnostic, therefore you can utilize both operating systems you mention.
please let us know if you have any questions or open a discussion on the vPro expert center and we can assist from there.

Thanks for your question. You may want to try this page on Network Connectivity. Let us know if you find the driver you needed.
Thanks for your question. I am trying to get the contact information for you. Please check back soon for an update.
We have only seen the Intel motherboards with SPDIF optical output (TOSLINK), never inputs and we think most of the OEM workstations don’t offer digital outputs or inputs. To accomplish your requirements, you may have to buy a workstation and then a discrete audio card such as this one: Click Here. Thanks for your question and let us know how it turns out.
Thanks for your question. To better answer your questions, could you please inform us the following information:
CPUID, Speed, Cache size, and Stepping of each processor? (i.e. install one at a time into the platform).
This is all displayed in BIOS Setup->Advanced->Processor -> CPU Info.
Also, What BIOS version are you currently using? We look forward to your reply.
