Hello, I just installed the dx58so with a i7 920 and cannot get the bios to appear properly. It appears in the bottom right corner of the screen, but when I try to move in the bios the text does not change. I can use the intel control center without a problem. I have updated to the latest bios version without any problem as well. I'm using 6gb ddr3 set to 8-8-8-24 @ 1.58v (It was originally set to 7-7-7-16 @ 1.54 when I first opened the intel control center, but these are closer to the recommended settings by the mfg). The only cards in the system are a 7800gt & sound blaster x-fi. I used them both in my last board.
I haven't been able to find anyone with a similar problem and solution other then updating the bios. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Just to update, I've run memtest. One memory stick had 4 errors in two passes, but the problem still exists even without the stick. To clarify, the text that does appear on the bios stays on the screen, and then if you change to another menu option, some parts change/overwrite what is on the screen, and some parts stay the same, making it impossible to navigate/use.
Hi,
AM i right in that the system works fone, just not the BIOS?
If so:
Have you tried clearing the cmos for 15/20 mins, with teh power to the board unplugged, then try to flash teh BIOS with the recovery methd and a usb, even if you have teh latets one. If it still dosent work i would try an earlier BIOS. If that still dosent work then i would get the board RMAd
"Clear"? Do you mean resetting it? I can definately try unplugging it, pulling the cmos battery and trying the recovery method (pulling the jumper off & loading .bio file to a flash drive).
Yep, by clear i mean take the cmos battery oput, just make sure you unplug teh system completly so it can power down completly , take the cmos battery out leave it our for 15 mins or so. then put it back in and straight away try a bios update via recovery
No, unfortunately no change. Can you think of any other suggestions to try?
