Trying to turn off AMT and can't get in because it wants a password. I am the owner/administrator of this machine but I did not build it. I can't find the guy that did in the phone book. Is this a thing that I can do or am I not supposed to do it? If someone doesn't tell me how to do it I will have to call everybody in the phone book with his last name looking for him. Am I wrong that if I'm not administering some computers I will be better off without it? Won't that free up some space and make some esoteric problems less probable?
so the initial answer is that you need the password, the question is does your computer operate in a company? If so, your company IT group contorls AMT and a local user/administrator does not have authority to enter it. AMT is for remote support of the computer when you need repair.
