Hi Guy's, I’m new to this forum and have a very frustrating problem!!
I recently (about a month ago) got myself a
DX58SO Smackover motherboard (new)
500 watt power supply (new)
2x 1gig kingston 1066 ram (checked for compatibility)
1 T/B Samsung 7200 rpm 32 meg (new)
Intel® Core i7 930 Processor 2.80 GHZ (new)
Asus 9600 GT (new)
Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit
The problem I'm having is that it reboots randomly. It started from day one where I installed the operating sys. After the installation it went for the first reboot. Just after the cold boot - as it wants’ to start-up the windows, it' reboots and it cycles like that the hole time. Even if I try to start-up in safe mode, it does exactly the same. After a half hour I tried to boot again and booted 100%. Normally I leave my pc on 24/7. The next day as I wanted to install some programs (while it has been on the hole night) it rebooted again, just as I wanted to do some processing. After that reboot, it keeps on rebooting just as it wants’ to start-up windows. Sometimes I can work for hours, even days, but it still reboots randomly - sometimes even with no processing at all. I have installed win xp on the same drive and on other drives - and it does exactly the same. I've tried other ram as well and rebooted as well on default bios setting.
If updated my bios and played with my setting's. Here is most of my config:
And still after a month period, it still does the same. Any help would be very much appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance
ajhart
Try another PSU that you are sure that meets the current rail requirements in the TPS.
Thanks for the reply - I'll give it a shot and try it out.
I don't want to sound like a noob, but what do you mean about "requirements in the TPS"
Thanks
ajhart
PSU is too weak ,try at least 600W (650 recommend).
Hi guy's, thanks for the reply's. I've got me a Raidmax 730 watt psu and is working 110% - 10 min cpu stress test on all cores and no random reboots. I was abit sceptic in the begining but it worked!!! You guy's saves lives, almost got myself some valium's. lol
No problems.. enjoy.
I have servel of the EXTREME Boards , DX48BT2, DP45SG DX38BT, These all are power hungry , you need a 80 Plus cert PSU 850 Watt or better , These things are very voltage sensitive. If it says 12 volts it better be at least 12volts under full load.
Your 5 volt signal is not 5 volts.
"I've got me a Raidmax 730 watt psu and is working 110%...." Are you sure that your psu is working 110%? If it is, you have an overload condition.
Hi ajhart,
from the screenshots you have posted, I've seen that you have installed the two sticks of RAM on the same channel. I'd suggest to move them on:
memory channel A slot 0 (blue bank)
memory channel B slot 0 (blue bank)
then I'd suggest to put the system in "optimal default" mode. In fact I see that "turbo boost" is not enabled and this is strange.
Anyway if the issue persists I'd check two things:
first the RAM: go to http://www.memtest.org/
and download a bootable memtest ISO. This bootable CD will check for possible RAM problems.
second, as already suggested here, but It seems to me the last chance, I'd would check to PSU: what brand is? Anyway from the screenshot that you have posted, your voltages sound very normal to me.
Hope this help.
Stefano
