Hi,
I registered yesterday an account for Intel AppUp and downloaded the application but when I try to log in to my account, I have the following error message :
"Oops, this feature requires you to be online. Please check your internet connectivity and try again."
I'm running Windows XP and my Internet connection works well. I checked also my firewall, it is not blocking Intel AppUp.
Thanks for your help
Guillaume
Thank you for writing!
Could you try to uninstall and re-install (http://communities.intel.com/community/appup/blog/2010/05/24/how-to-reinstall-intel-appupsm-center-for-windows) the Intel AppUp software client?
Could you also provide us with information about Windows XP Service Pack you have installed?
I'm afraid I'm having the same problem. Only I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on an Asus Eee PC 1505, Atom N450 processor. Windows is fully updated and I have confirmed the firewall is not blocking Appup. Any ideas? I let me know what if any other information would be helpful.
Hi crawford813,
Have you tried to uninstall and re-install the AppUp(SM) Centre again and are you using the latest version? If not, please download the latest version of the AppUp(SM) Center from this link and install it: http://www.intel.com/appup/
Is your netbook connected to the network wireless? For testing purpose can you test it by having a wired network connection?
Also, is it possible to test on a different network?
Please let us know if the problem remains after performing the above tests.
Regards
Rooven

I have the same issue on Windows XP with SP3. I'm online behind a NAT-firewall and every program runs just fine except AppUpp...
Another problem is when domain name part of email address begins with a number, I get an 'Invalid user name format' error. So, it is a valid domain name.
Good day!
Coulld you tell us what version of the AppUp do you use? (When have you downloaded it?)
Thank you!

Anastasia N.

I get a packet capture with a Wireshark and found, that AppUp client discovers a proxy on a network, despite the fact that this option is disabled in connection settings in Control Panel. We have such proxy in the office, but it requires authorization. Client does not understand the proxy answer and does not display a detailed error, which could help to investigate the issue. In order to address the problem, I disable authorization on the proxy for all connections coming to *.intel.com. Now client works properly (except for email issue described above).
To address the issue globally, I propose the client to perform connection attempts in the following order:
1. Direct TCP connection
2. Through a proxy definded in settings from Control Panel / Internet Options
3. If proxy automatic detection is enabled, try to discover and use it
4. Fail
Also it would be nice to have a connection log somewhere.
Hello,
I will pass on your suggestions to our development team. Also, I will forward the issue regarding email addresses beginning with a number.

Hello,
I was unable to duplicate the issue with domain names beginning with a number. Can you give me an example of an e-mail address that fails?

Here you can look at the screenshot:

As for the browser, I use both IE8 & Firefox. But why does it matter? Does AppUp use system default web-browser engine?
Thank you! I can see the issue now. I will forward this to our development team.
