The logs are a bit confusing.
Looks like a lot of “Cannot open database "SharePoint_Config_29c26fca-17b8-48c1-9704-b869932abcb6" requested by the login. The login failed”
One of the files seems to hint that you might be running on a vmware virtualized system which makes installing the network drivers a bit different.
Also looks like W2008 SP1. You might want to update to SP2.
Hi ‘Doc’,
Thanks for analyzing the logs.
A few weeks ago, I started preparing the system (SBS 2008 SP1) for the upgrade to SP2.
But before upgrading most ‘System, Application.. log events needed to be fixed.
The Sharepoint errors are one of them.
There is no kind of virtualization used on this system.

I did a Clean Installation of the system, and updated to SBS 2008 SP2.
The problem installing (15.5) the NiC drivers is still there:
- Updating drivers thru Device Manager, browse to PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS61 fails with "Windows encountered a problem installing... drivers found ... error while installing"
Rollback to original driver: BSOD STOP 0x9F
This is exactly the same as before the lengthly clean installation

How about running "Windows_x64_Install.bat"? Does it still hang?
I only wanted to update the driver, not install the accelerator software.
I toke a huge amount of time to install the system from the ground up (Clean Installation and AD Migration).
So I don’t want to risk damaging this installation.

Drivers: intel-lan_msft_15.2_whql.zip (OS:Windows Server 2003*, Windows Server 2008*, Windows Vista*, Windows XP*)
running: Windows_x64_Install.bat
“Window: “Installing Drivers”
“Installing network drivers for:”
- “Intel(R) PRO/1000 EB Network Connection with I/O Acceleration”
- “Intel(R) 5000 Series Chipsets Integrated Device - 1A38”
Duration > 30 minutes or hangs?
Why? What is wrong?
This happens also with earlier driver versions.
