I'm not getting any errors, also nothing showing in Event Viewer either. When launching the hour glass shows up for about 2 seconds then switches back to an arrow. If I look at the proccesses running, I see the G.exe shows up then goes away. I've tried setting the app to run in legacy Window OS's and minimal screen resolution but no luch.
My assumption is that it will not load because of screen resolution. My Dell Mini 10 has 1024x568 which is below the minimum for many apps. When this happens those apps similarly do not load, but I have displayed an error saying the screen resolution is unsupported
I wish I could tell you more
Actually the screen resolution is not a problem, G was designed to re-size to your desktop size. Yet, when submitting to the appup there were some errors related to the windows 7 operating system and currently G is a Windows XP only application. Appup lets us distinguish between XP and Windows 7. During CES we finished debuging the Windows 7 version. This is currently being reviewed and should aleviate the problems you are seeing. Again we are sorry about the Windows 7 problems and that that appup does not provide System Requierments for any of the applications.
G: shows up in the "Store" tab on both Windows XP* and Windows 7*, so it is currently flagged as supported by both operating systems. It sounds like your next update should resolve this. I'm looking forward to giving it a try on the Win 7 netbook. Thanks again for the info!
Bob, assuming you are running Windows 7, I think you have a clear answer on why the game won't run (per John it is not currently supported on that OS). I also tried compatibility modes for Windows XP* under Windows 7* and this did not fix the problem. That said, it should not have showed up in the Windows 7* Store tab if it is not supported by that OS. I am checking into this issue. Hopefully we will see an update to the game soon which will support Windows 7*. Thanks for your patience during our beta period
A few months back the new G version came out. I was wanting to close the loop on this issue. I recently purchased a windows 7 netbook to test the G install. I didn't have any problems and it brought this thread back to my mind. Does anyone still have any issues running G on a Windows 7 netbook after a full uninstall and re-install? If so please re-post so I can help you further.
I'm not able to launch it - just bought/downloaded today.
I can't launch directly from the Soma folder either - tried run as admin (on Win 7) and it just didn't do anything.
Run in compatibility mode for xp sp2 also failed
Win 7 "troubleshoot compatibility" tool said it was incompatible.
At some point I noticed 2 crashes noting Intel products had occurred in the background - it could have happened during download. I rebooted and downloaded again.
Steam has a "verify" option to test the local installation - if appup had that, I'd use it.
I will let John respond to the Windows* 7 issue. As for Windows XP we require SP3. Please see FAQs here: http://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-4664#Automatically_disabling_the_Intel_AMT_Privacy_Notification_window_301875
