Maybe it's just me, but do other experience a huge!!!! memory leak in this game?
On startup it requires in excess of 900 MB which goes up till 1300 MB before i kill it.
(The game is unplayable (slow!!) aswell)
But then again, maybe that's my fault for using IE8.
Regards
Not sure how to get to the competition version. I go to http://itmanager3.intel.com/en-us/default.aspx
Maybe an older version?
If you could provide me with a different link, i'll try that one aswell.
Just retried above link. Started of on 650MB, which went up to 1260MB before IE8 crashed.
Garbage collection doesn't seem to do a proper job. If you need specifics, let me know..
we have noticed similar issues with some other players and are working on the solution to create the lighter version of the game. as it is flash-based and as the player gets further along in the game, profile grows and therefore game slows down. I will publish a post on this site once the lighter version is available.
As for the competition. If you go to the landing page of this community: www.intel.co.uk/itgalaxy you will see the banner linking to the IT Manager III comeptition version. It is the same game, though a different instance to run the competition. You will need to register first to the community and then it will take you to competition version. It runs till mid September and you can win MSI x-slim 340 ultrathin laptop. Mike Saunders wrote a post about the competition, you can have a look here: http://communities.intel.com/community/itgalaxy/uk/blog/2009/06/24/it-manager-3-competition-win-a-ultrathin-laptop
Let me know if you have more questions, and keep playing the game, there are more updates to come ![]()
Thank you for the link.
It's good to hear you'll be releasing a 'light' version.
I really like the game, so please continue improving it.
Do you have a current problem with reference counting and weak reference use for listeners?
These could lead to the gabage collection not doing it's job. (and huge memory leaks as a result)
Cleanup must be a lot of work, as i imagine the object tree used is enormous.
Good luck, and thank you for your quick reply.
Hi Schwarz, it's been a while but I thought I would still write another reply to your post
we have now released the animation-light mode of the game which should address questions you asked and suggestions you made. check the blog post here and let me know if you have any other suggestions, we love to hear the feedback: http://communities.intel.com/community/itgalaxy/uk/blog/2009/11/25/award-winning-it-manager-game-launches-the-animation-light-mode
or directly try the game: http://itmanager3.intel.com/en-gb/default.aspx?iid=ENGSHORT+unseenforces&
