Display clone question

I am trying to use an LCD TV as a display for my Lenovo N500 notebook.  However in the graphics options there is no display clone option, only single display and notebook only.  How do I enable the display clone or what other method can I use. When I plug ina VGA - component lead, the notebook display turns off and no signal is recieved at the tv. Upon unplugging, it is apparent that the graphics resolution has been changed but it reverts to normal.

System is..

Lenovo N500

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Windows Vista Home Premium

Thanks for any help
