is my e8400 overheating

i have recently built my first pc,  in the bios it says that my e8400 temp is 42.5/C is this an acceptable temp or is it overheating.  I have yet to install the os and drivers but want to be sure that everything is ok first, as I have said i'm new to all this so any info is gratefully received cheers

That is normal. The real question is what it does on 100% load (ala, maxing out the processor). You can use a utility like wPrime to do that.

The stock cooler is usually fine, but you may want to pick a 3rd party cooler if you intend to overclock.
