Has anyone proved that 1.5TB drives can be installed on the SS4200-EHW?
I just bought the unit, and have 2 WD WD15EADS already on hand.. I'm about to start preping the system... Can anyone give heads up if this drive will/won't work in this unit. I would think that the Compatibility list hasn't been updated in a while, and yes, those drives don't appear on there. Yes, I have set these drives to their RAID TLER setting of Enabled (7s / 0s). So I hope I'm good to go...
Thanks,
T
Hi, our company did assemble two S4200-E storage systems in April 2009 with 1.5TB disks, but these were Seagate 7200rpm SATA II 32MB HDD-s.
No problems during RAID initialization and still working today.
Hi
Indeed, on the Tested Hardware and operating systems list doesn’t show any 1.5TB disk compatible. But also stated that:
Intel will only provide support for those adapters and peripherals under the specified system configuration (System BIOS and Firmware revisions) and client operating systems versions with which they were tested

I think that it should be fine, but is a risk that you need to take.

Hello All,
Yes, i have installed the drive, and so far it works fine on the system. I will be putting it through more tests once i have the 2 additional 1.5T that i ordered into the NAS. As you may know, as soon as you put 2 drives into the unit, it assumes a RAID 1 setup. I'll be redoing all the settings to RAID 5 once the drives are in.
Thx!
