Hi. I'm having problems accesing Intel Proset Wireless menu options. I can't select any option on the pop up windows. The wireless works but I can't change networs. When I place the mouse over the pop-up window (whether I click the right button over the icon on the bottom right or whether I run the program throught the START menu) the mouse arrow dissapears over the window. Therefore I cannont change a network provider. I'm stuck with the one I have at home which is the one that runs automatically. I also have problems running firefox. It runs but I also can't see the menus. However, if I reset firefox after running it on safe mode I can access the firefox menus. However, after I restart the computer the problem is back with firefox. I've scanned my laptop for viruses but nothing there. I've thought about reinstalling the driver but am not sure how to do it.
I have: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. Driver Version 10.5.1.57.
Hi,
Make sure you have a copy of the PROset installer on hand.
If you are using Windows XP. Try uninstalling the PROSet software by going to Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs
click on Intel PROset wireless software found in the program list, click on the Change/Remove to uninstall.
Would advise you get the latest wireless software from your notebook vendor. The one available on Intel website is a generic version of 12.x. Can't guarantee of its compatibility in case you want to try it out.
Thank you for your support. I was traveling and wasn't able to try what you've suggested. I don't have a copy of PROSet installer so I'll try and download one (not sure where to get it). I'll also check Toshiba's support page first as you suggested. I have the orginal CDs that came with the laptop but they're apparently for restoring the orginal software completely.
HI,
This is the website where you can download wireless Proset software (generic version from Intel), hope this helps:)

Hi,
I checked Toshiba first as you suggested. I downloaded their "Intel PROSet Utility for Windows XP" version 10.5.0.174 from this page: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1468771&rpn=PSMB0U&modelFilter=M115-S3094&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663
I have: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. Driver Version 10.5.1.57 so I don't know if that is a problem.
I ran the utility and chose the repair option. It didn't repair it but actually disabled it. I am now working through Windows (windows is managing wireless). The Intel PROSET icon appears at the bottom right of the taskbar. When I place the mouse over the icon a message says "Windows is managing the wireless adapter. Click here to use Intel Proset/Wireless". I click on the icon and nothing happens. If I run Intel Proset through the Start menu the window appears but I can't choose any options. I then cannot close this window and only swap to a different one.
My wireless is now working fine through Windows. I am considering unistalling Intel Proset and then reinstalling it but may just stay with the Windows manager.
