There is now a SPEC benchmark (SPECpower_ssj2008) for power-performance. Check out the press release.

I've watched remotely as this developed and am impressed with the result. When I started with power measurements on servers, it was a rudamentary task with little definition or explaination on what data to collect. Its nice to see the industry come together and provide a solid tool for everyone to use.

Anyone used this yet?

Well it has been over 6 months since the release of this new benchmark. I've had several end users tell me they are thinking about making this part of their upcoming specifications on their next server purchase

Are you using it to evaluate or compare the energy efficiency of your servers before you purchase? If not, how do you compare?
