I have applied the latest BIOS update to my DP45SG (116 / SGP4510H.86A) Extreme Series motherboard from Windows XP, and after a successful flash, booted XP and installed Intel Desktop Control Center. I then rebooted as requested by the installer. Afterwards, I proceeded to running the progam. I double clicked the desktop icon, and the background working cursor appeared (pointer w/ small hourglass). I then saw a network connections tray icon with an X stating that there was no adaptor, and within a second the DCC splash appeared. However, rather than running, the system shut off within half of a second and would not boot again. The symptoms, according to Intel's diagnostic wizard, lead to a shorted board (powers up, HDDs spin up, but no disk light indicators or video activity). Other components include a Core 2 Quad B1 stepping processor and an Nvidia 8600GT video card. What should my course of action be?
